There is no upgrading anything, all the chips are soldered to the motherboard.
Just like everything in the MBA is soldered?

That isn't true. The SSD is removable, as is the wireless card. Everything else is soldered.
I stand corrected, I'm sure replacing the SSD is no easy task.
If it's like the MBA. You just have to unscrew it (apparently its pentalobe screws) and then you should be able to just pop it out.
According to iFixit, it is exactly like the MBA in that regard.
That's what I'm hoping. But iaccording to Anand the controller and SSD in the rMBP is already the fastest its going to be and probably if you end up upgrading third party you might have a performance hit.
I'm planning on offloading some stuff off my internal HDD and putting it on an external and hoping that 256 is enough. in all honesty, I probably will be able to get away with it and ended up saving at least $300 since I didn't upgrade to the higher end rMBP.
plug an SDXC card in, maybe 64GB, and you can store a lot of files without taking up a USB port.
What do you mean?I plan on just using a system pull for my 2010 MBA, cheaper than getting the OWC one.
What do you mean?
I think buying a laptop every year or two is a complete waste of money.....
Look I just got the MBP 13.3 beginning of this year. Not spending a dime on another MBP......

I'm curious - why MBP 13"? To me it has always stood out as the odd duck in the Apple lineup, with little reason to exist. It was never substantially better than the much cheaper Macbook as long as the MB existed, and Airs have superior displays as well as stock SSD resulting in more real world performance. It's a real WTF that even the freshest 2012 13" MBP has 1280x800 vs the 1440x900 in my 2010 Air.I think buying a laptop every year or two is a complete waste of money.....
