Out for my almost daily walk along this rural road that winds among several farm fields. On the way back I see (and hear) something in front of me, but off to the side of the road. Turns out to be a large cloud of very active bees. I keep going and they do likewise. Only the edge of the cloud is over the road, but I don't have much choice if I want to get home. Keep on trucking as the song says. For whatever reason, they either didn't notice me or were too bothered by whatever else to be concerned with me. When I looked back, they were still at it.

Went to my off grid land yesterday for first time this year with a friend and we had a camp fire. Super bliss being there, and I still can't believe I actually own that land.

Looking forward to going for some overnight trips with more supplies so I can actually get some stuff done. Need to build an outhouse and a decent storage shed as a start.

Did you roast poutine and drink bagged milk?

10-12 year old push mower. Always had trouble starting it over the last few years. Sometimes easy, most time I had to fight with it. Put it up for sale a few months back. Made sure to state it was hard to start. Guy responds yesterday, says 'if we can get it started, I'll take it for the asking price.' OK fine. Meet up today. Blasted thing starts on the first pull. I don't remember it doing that in the last several years.

Easy money.

Stopped at red light briefly on my ride today. Quick snap of these guys just chilling, smoking a hookah listening to tunes while waiting for the dinner rush to start for delivery orders where they will soon put their lives at risk on the city streets for a few bucks. If these guys are just chilling, I'd say life isn't that bad

Found a chestnut growing in my patio a couple weeks ago. I've been wanting one for awhile, so it was like a gift. I transplanted to the hill behind the house, and a week later yard rats ate all the leaves and pulled it out of the ground. I found the stick and put it back in the ground, but I wasn't hopeful it would live. Checked it today, and new buds are starting to pop. I have a locust branch teepee around it, but now that I know it's still alive, I think I'll bolster the fortification.

Just got my biggest listing signed by far. Mid 2 million dollar price point home in the Jersey burbs.

Now to get to work and close the deal, hopefully both sides.

Today HBO Max became just MAX

And now finally the entire Parts Unknown catalog is available for streaming in one place I already subscribe to. Pretty fucking happy. That show is poetry.

I got kumquats awhile ago, and particularly noticed the seeds while I was eating them. I stuck a few of them in a pot, and damned if one didn't sprout. Planted it outside today...

I was moving the dirt around in the pot getting ready to move a spiderplant to it, and found another one that sprouted, but was still underground. I stuck it in upright, and hopefully it'll take root. Spiderplant will have to wait to move. Hope these plants take off. I love kumquats.

I think it'll probably be alright. It doesn't get cold around here like it used to. If we somehow get a cold snap(I can always dream), I'll maybe tent it with a bunch of mulch around the base. Maybe that'll work? I don't typically grow things with intent. Animals leave me gifts, and I either keep or cull them. I'm not really a gardener.

Scored 8 fluorescent light fixtures for free from a local electronics store that closed down recently as the owner retired. The building inside is being gutted completely, I think they're turning it into a gym or something. They have way more and I'm welcomed to go get more if I want to, but think 8 will do. Will use them in my garage. I had been pricing lights for the garage at one point and was looking at like close to a grand in lighting, now I got it for free.

2x4 troffers, the nicer commercial grade ones too. I think I'm going to put like 6 in the garage, save the other two for my off grid property once I build a shed/shop.

Now I'm actually thinking I should have grabbed more lol.

NNNnnnope. They suck power big time 4 - 40W tubes, 160 watts. You might be able to put LED tubes in them, but it's better to just get LED fixtures designed to maximize the light pattern.

I'll probalby put LED bulbs in them, but I hate the integrated LED ones because the entire fixture is garbage if the light dies, at least with these you can change the bulbs. I was looking at the LED flat panels though, they are nice, I just hate the idea that the entire thing has to be changed if it dies, and in 10-20 years from now it will not look the same.

Second surgery is done today.
The first hand feels absolutely fantastic. The only thing I can do to make it hurt is get down on the ground and put my palm down trying to get back up.
It's about 120% of pre-surgery function, and has just a little numbness left in the fingertips. It has not been a month yet and I expect that to go away.

In Maui this week. Walking along front street in Lahaina and there is an artist doing nice greese pen drawings of people. I asked how much and he said that it was normally $85, but he was bored so he'd do it for free. He did an excellent job drawing my daughter and I did end up giving him a large tip. Super nice guy.

I'm sure he was going to drum up some other business, lots of people stopped and watched for a few minutes.

Having display output issues with my surfing laptop at work and now that it's weekend it makes for a long day without being able to use it, so just pulled it out and using it stand alone without the kvm now.

Just realized that if I place my coffee on the left side of the laptop the exhaust fan keeps it warm.

This thing does run pretty hot if I try to open 2 tabs at once, or open a youtube video. I ordered a used Intel NUC on Ebay to replace it with, it's going to run circles around it, and no built in display to mess up the external display. I suspect there is an issue with the mechanism that detects if lid is open or not, and that's probably what's causing my issues.
