Lots of good niche hardware is ignored by the major sites: the Radeon LE, the latest 5400 rpm Samsung drives (previous models matched older 7200 rpm units), external USB->IDE cradles, etc. Make up a nice, polite email, and CC it to every reviewer's inbox you can think of.

this is crap it seems only popular products are reviewed and the others are never even given the time of day... but this is a radeon product it just happens to be pci and i assume many people dont have agp and are looking for a good video card but have no reperence ie a review to read before making a decision to buy the card... i am sure many people like me have a 800 or higher processer sitting in a 810 based motherboard who like games and want the latest and greatest but now have to buy a product blindly ......... i think the whole point of anadtech is to inform the masses whith hardware buying decisions. its a shame that PCI videocards are never reviewed i just ask that andndtech do a compersion of pci cards simple just number thats it ....... now i am gona have to buy this card and see how it performs and if i do get it i will run some quake3 test and post it to help the next person who is looking for a radeon pci.... its a shame....

I just bought one for my cousin, although i haven't installed it yet. i'm going home for the weekend, and that's when i'm gonna do it. i think i may get impatient and install it on my current box to see how it compares to my gf2

by the way, he has a p3 667 and 192 megs of ram, so it's a semi-nice system, it's just crippled by it's lack of agp on the 810 mobo.

like you, i tried looking for a review, but could not find one.

V5, no future support

gf2mx pci- d3d issues and performance issues, i've heard

so.... i pray that i didn't make a mistake by choosing the radeon pci for my little cousin

egghead.com had it for $112 american, good price

I'd imagine that it won't get top priority in a review as it will behave similarly to the agp version which has been reviewed. The other thing is that these things do cost money to review so not everything can get its 15 seconds of fame like it should. I expect one of the smaller review sites to carry a mini review of it when someone has to buy one for a system and decide to test it first. I'll keep an eye out for one.

Anand, Tom, and the others do not pay for their hardware, I assure you. How does Hard[OCP] afford to cripple so many Thunderbirds that should belong to someone who needs it, not some fool. Rambling..

When dealing with hundreds/thousands of units, a few cards to the various review sites doesn't dent the companies profits. It will increase sales due to the recognition it will receive, if anything.

But that is only what they want to send out for reviews. Most of the companies don't put a high priority on the low end models or small niche market products. They would rather demo their high end models and have those reviews lead the reader into expectations of other models. Besides, not all review sites are as high profile and get all their gear for free like Anand's and Tom's. Some of the best reviews I've read outside of Anand is by small review sites that have to buy their own hardware to test and actually do a more thorough job explaining what they had to do to get this or that to work correctly. That is very useful stuff that I kinda wish we did here but that would just open a large can of worms that we should not be getting the electric can opener out of the drawer for. But without the large backgroud for benchmarks, they can't provide nearly as good of a comparison as here and the larger sites. Anyway, I'll still keep an eye out for it.

yea most of the good reviews are done by small sites, that are basically just reviewing their own systems. Plus anands wont get a radeon LE since ATI wont send them one since its not an official USA product right now. Anand's reviews are pretty bad as they are , he's got like a formula, and they way they are written now sounds like they are just going through the motions. I mean really why review every single geforce card, they are all exactly the same. They need to start reviewing or at least doing articles on niche products like

usb external enclosures,

the radeon LE like you guys said

stuff like firewire cards,

those hot swap bays for drives

etc

but companies that make that stuff aren't very high profile and dont give samples out

Good Luck is all I can say-that and please let us(Ok, ME) know how it works out. As you've noticed, those of us stuck with PCI-only computers are being completely ignored by all the review sites these days-and we're not being terribly well served by manufacturers or retailers. I'm puzzled by that, because the 810 chipset must still account for A LOT of computers out there-they're being sold by every manufacturer and outlet that I know of, and the prices must make them extremely popular. I can't believe that there isn't a way to make money selling these people ugrades. Unfortunately, the best PCI cards were made by the late 3DFX, who couldn't get AGP implementation right.

yea you'd think . the i810 e is a very popular chipset, and the kl133 and pl133 from via (agp slot less for socket A and socket 370) look like they will be popular as well
