Review request Thermalright Ultima-90

Hello all,

I just now joined this forum because of the great CPU cooler reviews at AnandTech! :thumbsup: I only wanted to request a review of the new upcoming Thermalright Ultima-90, as I was hoping to see a good comparison (based on performance and not on silence) between this one and his bigger brother, the Ultra-120 eXtreme, that did so good in its review here!

Here is a nicely done user review from a dude at XtremeSystems if you haven't checked it out already:

Test 1) E6400 3.5Ghz (7x500) - 1.36 VCore - As5 - 20c-21c Ambient
Idle and Load Temperatures
Tuniq (Stock Fan) ? 27c idle ? 51c load
Ultima-90 (Scythe S-Flex) - 27c idle ? 47c load

Test 2) E6400 3.7Ghz (8x463) - 1.4875 VCore - Arctic Silver 5 TIM - 120mm Fan (used Tuniq Fan on both for 1 to 1 comparison) - 20c-21c Ambient
Idle and load Temperatures
Tuniq - Idle 33c - Load 62c
Ultima-90 - Idle 32c ? Load 57c

Mighty impressive. Add Thermalright Ultima-90 and Enzotech Ultra-X to this chart and it would be way too much information in one easy-to-read chart.

Looks to be a very good cooler. But remember the U-120E was a ES that anandtech reviewed and it did not have that messed up base like the ones that were sold everywhere. And so is this one, ES's are built with precision because they are not being mass produced yet.

Yes, I have seen that review over at XtremeSystems and it indeed looks very promising! But it is indeed an ES and of course I would like to base my decision on more than one review, especially one that directly compares the Ultima-90 to the Ultra-120 eXtreme, like AnandTech does with so many different coolers! :thumbsup:

I asked TR for a release date a few weeks ago and they said sometime in mid-June. No hard release date....but hopefully sometime in the next couple weeks.
