28 days sounds right.

which ball would hit the bottom of the bucket first?
You didn't specify that the second bucket has any water in it, so I'd say that one.

If the second one doesn't have water in it, or ice in this case since it's at or below 32 degrees F, it's the second one.

What's with all the ice riddles?

He asked which would hit the bottom first. Since the second bucket is frozen, it wouldn't hit the bottom.

When one does not know what it is, then it is something;
but when one knows what it is, then it is nothing.
What is it?

And no, it's not ice

Ah, true, but he didn't say if there was anything (water) in the second one. The bucket (or surrounding temperature) was 30 degrees F.

I know this one so I suppose I won't answer.

I suppose that's true. I guess we're supposed to just assume.

No, Goth said it.... I never said anything about there being water in the second bucket. The bucket itself was 30 degrees

Good answer, but not what I have as the answer. Not to say "secret" wouldn't work as the answer, since it would fit with the possible exception of the "it is nothing" part.

i'm out for the night, boys, but I'll leave you with one more.

Two men were being tried for murder. The jury found one man guilty
and the other innocent. The judge turned to the guilty man
and said, "Even though your guilt has been established, the law
compels me to set you free." How could such a bizarre judgement occur?

is "set you free" a euphemism for the death penalty?

The rope is tied off between the horse and the hay.

That's not the answer I was given, but that is what I first thought also and it works

This would be impossible because the rope would be too short

Back to the 3rd grade for joo!

Just catching up from yesterday.

If you cant understand what i meant, im saying that the rope cannot be tied to a bail of hay that is 25 ft away from him if the rope is only 15 ft long. Reread my post and you should understand.

Edit: I lack reading skills

He's not saying its tied to the hay, its tied to a point 15' from the horse in the direction of the hay.

Horse <----------------15 feet ------------------ >X
|-------------------------------25 feet --------------------------------------|Hay

X = tie off point for horse. Although it's only assumed that the rope tied to the horse is tied to something else.

I still fail to see how this is so hard to understand.. thanks for the diagram!

This is a problem that came up on my 'gifted' test .... hoohaa!

Most people cannot think in 3D, no matter how well they think they can.

So in their heads they are probably picturing this:

X------------------------15 feet----------------------------------->HORSE|-------------------------------------------------------25 feet-------------------------------------------------------|Hay

Did anyone answer the "ten words in one word" riddle? If so, I may need to touch up my reading and comprehension skills.

Good morning all.. I see this thread is still hanging around.. I guess I'll find another riddle.. hang on.

<edit>

Ok, this one should be good for a few headaches :evil:

A customer at a 7-11 store selected four items to buy, and was told that the cost was $7.11. He was curious that the cost was the same as the store name, so he enquired as to how the figure was derived. The clerk said that he had simply multiplied the prices of the four individual items. The customer protested that the four prices should have been ADDED, not MULTIPLIED. The clerk said that that was OK with him, but, the result was still the same: exactly $7.11. What were the four prices?
