Don't know how it happened. Have tried a number of things to try and restore this function, from Group Policy, Registry, System Restore and using ShellExView all to no avail. Operating System is Win XP Pro.
If the mouse is ok try a different one or even better try the problem one on a different computer. If it works uninstall any manufacturer driver software for the the mouse via the add remove programs function, restart if still no joy then manually uninstall the drivers for the mouse via the device manager and restart this should force windows to rediscover the mouse and reinstall of the driver if there was a problem with a corrupted driver this should help. Also if it is a wireless mouse fresh batteries or a charge is a must try.
