Holy crap, RIM finally did something right, OS 2.0 for the PlayBook, and the stock didn't move.

People/corporations aren't going to migrate back to RIM, it's flipping dead

The complete lack of response, aside from 1 new thread with barely any posts(?), should be a good reflection of the effect the new OS has had...

Playbook is already a year old. Si ded.

The stock won't move until reports about how sales are going come out.

They report earnings on March 29... Always one of the last ones each quarter.

It's pretty freakin good. Really wish it had been done at least 2-4 months ago when iPad3 wasn't on anyone's radar yet. Tough to say if this will save the product, but if it had launched like this it likely would have been a winner.

I really like the email setup though it needs a portrait mode for faster typing. 5 row keyboard is nice, too.

The remote control feature makes it an excellent presentation tool (it was already a decent one). It now completely replaces a laptop+remote setup, and adds remote keyboard.

How does it compare with Android ICS?

Who knows - maybe RIM is taking notes from when Jobs returned to Apple and cut everything but 4 products and laid off a lot of people. Look where Apple is today...

I personally don't care if RIM survives or not - the only thing I like about the crackberry is the messenger when it actually works. Our corporate phones/plans are up for renewal soon and I have my fingers crossed we'll move to Android or iPhone platform instead.

LOL. I hate my BB, it's just slow and feels old. Is company issued, when RIM dies they'll give me a real phone. The ONLY thing going for these, I mean the only thing is security, which is hardly something nobody else can do, and the keyboards are nice to type on for email. That's f**king all. And people are used to them. The company is still looking down the barrel of a howitzer.

What RIM has going for them is BES. It surprises me that Apple or Google has not come up with such a product tbh.

I hope to see RIM turn around, but things arn't looking that great.

You don't need BES anymor, ActiveSync takes care of all that much easier and a hell of a lot cheaper on many fronts.

The nice thing with BES though is the central management and easy integration with Exchange, with Active Sync you have to set it up on a per user basis in their Outlook, which can be a pita if you have lot of users. Unless that changed and they have a server product now?

At the company I work for RIM already lost. Executives moved from RIM -> Apple. iPhones and iPads all over.

I think I've seen 1 7" android tablet here. and 1 touchpad.

I have the latest Curve at work. Biggest POS operating system. It's like a puzzle trying to get to my inbox. So bad I'd rather carry my Macbook Air from meeting to meeting to read email.

The old OS was good in a utilitarian sort of way. This one is terrible.

Wow, only down 2.4% aftermarket. Apparently it was down 9%, so someone might be buying in bulk. On the otherhand, who hasn't bailed yet?

RIMM is the equivalent of EK. A one trick company that will die thanks to creative destruction and the former co CEOS/management never having the vision or capability to steer the RIMM ship into the future and avoid crashing into the iceberg of failure & ignorance.

The damage is done, RIMM is the equivalent of the Titanic, it already hit the iceberg, its only a matter of time before the ship sinks. Just like Polaroid and Eastman Kodak.

About damn time, they should have ignored the masses and their endless search for toys and never lost focus on the business market to begin with.

Sorry but this is stupid. As the iPhone is proving, there is ONLY the consumer market. Businesses have employees who are consumers. People are buying iPhones and carrying both devices, to the point where businesses are switching. Not many have (percentage wise), but considering the costs of switching, it is a big sign.

THIS will be the end of RIM. I've been a big fan and still think they have a lot going for them if they can execute on some things, but abandoning consumers is the death knell, and it has been the source of all of their problems.

I disagree. There is still hope. They have a strong grip on the corporate market. They have a rock-solid mobile OS. They have their first tablet out and have some experience with what works and what doesn't.

They have all the right pieces, they just don't have the right vision, nor do they execute rapidly enough. These problems are fixable, but they are not being fixed.

Activesync's central management is exchange.
