But it is becoming clear that you are biased.
Everyone in this thread is biased.
You are starting to make it glaringly obvious that you don't know how good businesses operate.
And yet you're the one defending RIM, a poster-child for how to not operate a business properly.

RIM needs apps. If BB10 comes out and at launch they have a multitude of great apps, then they have a chance. If not, if it's more excuses of "Guys, we have a lot of really good developers we've incentivized with a pathetic $10k building some awesome apps, they just aren't here quite yet!" they shouldn't bother.

Now it seems March is the date for BB10, a missed holiday season. I wonder if they'll even hit that date.

Your oblivious to reality if you think RIMM is not currently well run.

The date is not announced yet. The march date is speculation by an analyst. Might as well have someone in kindergarden provide a guess.

Q1 2013 means anywhere in the jan to march time frame.

I think its fuuny. I'm watching Apple now and they vare resting on their laurels. But they are well run, right?

Federal agency to switch to iPhone, drop BlackBerry

(Reuters) - The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) said it will end its contract with BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd in favor of Apple Inc's iPhone, dealing a new blow to RIM just months before it launches a vital new device.

The agency said in a solicitation document posted last week that it intends to buy iPhones for more than 17,600 employees - a purchase worth $2.1 million.

The agency said it has relied on RIM for eight years, but the company "can no longer meet the mobile technology needs of the agency."

It also said it analyzed Apple's iOS-based devices and Google Inc's Android operating system and concluded that, for the near term, Apple's iPhone services offer the best technology for the agency because of Apple's tight controls of the hardware platform and operating system.

The agency said the iPhone will be used by a "variety of agency personnel, including, but not limited to, Homeland Security Investigations, Enforcement and Removal Operations and Office of the Principal Legal Advisor employees.

"The iPhone services will allow these individuals to leverage reliable, mobile technology on a secure and manageable platform in furtherance of the agency's mission."

RIM is expected to launch its new BB10 smartphone in early 2013. The BB10 will come equipped with a revamped operating system and is aimed at putting an end to a precipitous decline in RIM's market share over the past year and longer.

"Of course, we are disappointed by this decision," RIM vice president of government solutions Paul Lucier said in an emailed statement. "We are working hard to make our new mobile computing platform, BlackBerry 10, meets the future needs of government customers."

RIM said that, after accounting for the ICE move, it had one million government customers in North America.

RIM's advantage has been what industry experts widely describe as superior security and device-management features that have made the BlackBerry appealing to corporate IT managers and a crucial tool for police, government and military use.

But that advantage is waning with the growing number of providers that help companies beef up security on iPhones and Androids.

Funny, most people that have the BB 7 OS love it. Most people that complain are still using BB5 devices. I wouldn't be so bold as to say that their products suck. If you want ot say that they currently don't have the ecosystem of Android or iOS, that is fair. But it is becoming clear that you are biased.

If BB10 is a better experience that iOS and Android there will be adopters that give it a whirl. All those people that buy a new phone every 6 months for no good reason are on that list.

For a company loosing loyalty, they sure are having fun growing hte subscriber base every quarter, even today.

The co-CEOs are gone. The new CEO is doing a wonderful job. What is his pay by the way? $1 a year or something?

No offense, but none of your thoughts are origianl They all seem to be from various articles you have read. I know this because I've read them to. But I took teh extra step of doing research into countries like India.

i think even if bb7 were a nice os, phones with 2 inch screens still suck. they stupidly dont understand this

You really aren't paying attention to the product mix are you.

2.8" and 3.2" with hardware keyboards, and 3.7" all-touch would be the 'interesting' models for BB7.

Not to say they are perfect, but "Most people that complain are still using BB5 devices" is pretty accurate. Would you care to go back to an iPhone with no push, no copy-paste... etc?

Better than making it against the rules to use.

The interesting aspect is that RIMM has a product to manage smart phones (all platforms) that the Pentagon may be interested in. And part of reading about this is that they are actually seeking a management platform now.

I still find some aspects of Windows phone reviews interesting. Many people are starting to realize how out of date the Android and iOS experience is. This is part of the reason I have faith in BB10. The recent 20% run up in stock price is also nice. Mostly because of this it seems:

Statement from RIM CEO: BlackBerry 10 passes critical milestone; achieves Lab Entry with more than 50 carriers
http://crackberry.com/statement-rim...milestone-achieves-lab-entry-more-50-carriers

This pretty much makes it sound like a January or early February release of BB10 is realistic.

I didn't think my new iPhone was our of date but fwiw when I saw a brief demo of the live tiles on a windows phone I can start to see that they may be onto something. Sometime you just don't know what you're missing till you see it for the first time.

Hahhaha, good one.

Sorry, I looked back....Its down about 50% since you started your RIMM posts. I also found this golden nugget of a post from early January where you jizzed your pants like you were the first person to know about HTML5.

What have I said about Apple? .... and don't take things out of context.

OK, I am a Prem Watsa Fan Boy. Atleast I admit it and I don't act like a jackanape over it. I accept it and move on. Do you tie your name to Apple in a forum full of "tech nerds" to just to throw the name around over and over in your posts to give yourself some sort of credibility by doing so. (See how I did that there with your words?)

Prem Watsa has everything to do with Everything. He is often referred to as "The Canadian Warren Buffett". the number of people that can be referred to as the next Warren Buffett can be counted on one hand. He is often buying out of favor companies with a hidden catalyst. TXI being a painfully obvious example of this.

Are you some sort of moron? Watsa is a reason to investigate. Nothing more, nothing less. Do you read? The thread of conversation regarding RIMM and Watsa in chronological order is not hard to understand. The thread iof conversation regarding this did not start with "I am buying RIMM because Watsa is". It started with "WHY?" It is painfully obvious that you are some sort of fan boy for Apple. Why else would you be so closed minded? You probably skimmed my posts. What I have said is fairly clear in chronological order. You have no clue what HTML 5 is. You have no clue of what the competition is up to. You have no clue about many things being done by none Apple anything. You have no clue.

What is it that I have said that is so bad about Apple? One fucking thing. And not a single person here followed up on the thought. It was an asinine thought. You think I didn't know it when I said it. it was the 0.000001% chance of being a real outcome. I know the AAPL balance sheets. They are nothing like Enrons. But why bother looking at Enron? That would take like effort and stuff. You didn't spend a second on Enron. Within 10 minutes you could have found the balance sheets and saw the obvious. One minute later you could have pointed out my fallacy in an intelligent manner. So ... 111 minutes of effort in trying to gain knowledge vs whatever it is you did. It is painfully obvious. When the tide goes out, those wearing no shorts are exposed. That is you. Everyone here did not spend one second on Enron. And if they did, they did not spend a second thinking about anything. 11 minutes..... think about what 4 hours on RIMM could do. I spent 4 hours on RIMM tonight. About 15 minutes of that was looking at a top level overview of RIMM. A vast majority of my time has been spent on future tech that RIMM and Apple and Google seems to give a shit about.

I agree ... I guarantee you Watsa wouldn't say some of the things I say on here regarding AAPL. But you know what he would say? I went further in 5 hours than you have in days? months? years? Do you even know anything about HTML 5? If one hour alone trying to educate yourself on HTML 5 is too much effort, you might as well look into index funds.

I'm done defending myself. Why is it that you are so devoted to Apple? And I get shit for calling people fan boys? A 4th reference to that Ayn Rand quote is needed.

PS: The Ayn Rand quote thing is a test ..... no .... the 4th reference to the Ayn Rand quote is a test.

I wish there was something I could do to put a stake in RIM. My work forces me to use a Blackberry and I use an iPhone for personal use. I hate carrying two phones and the blackberry constantly freezes up, drops calls and is a piece of crap!

Oh you poor thing! Perhaps you should quit and work for a company that doesn't abuse it's employees like that.

Look.

Your Blackberry is broken, especially if it is dropping calls. Quite frankly, they aren't known for that. Go to ServiceDesk and complain about it.

What OS is on your current blackberry?

Your problems are no worse than my Android phone. Get over it.

Have youi looked into BB10 at all?

PS: RIM stock almost to $10 this morning.
