RIP Super Dave....

I remember him from Bizarre too and Letterman. He was always on there. I didn't realize the character itself went as far back as 1972.

Man I feel old between him and Mean Gene both going today.

It's funny--I knew of and recall Superdave, but it wasn't until ~last year, with Seinfeld's Cars & Coffee show that I realized Marty Funkhouser on Curb your Enthusiasm was the same guy. Superdave was too far in my past

He had an unmistakable voice. I knew Marty Funkhowswer was SuperDave when I saw him on "Curb Your Enthusiasm." What I didn't realize as a kid when watching Super Dave on free Showtime 2 or 3 day we want you to buy a Showtime subscription free preview. I actually thought his real name was Dave Osborne as a kid.

yeah, I had vaguely recalled the bits--then when I saw clips, I suddenly recalled all of that. It's like it was erased from my memory--so I never really remembered Super Dave's voice. But it could be worse: Friend of mine who very clearly recalls and loves superdave/Mary Funkhouser always thought that Super Dave was a real daredevil. He knew it was comedy, but also thought he was a real daredevil that did all those stunts.

...I mean. I had to explain this to him 3 times in the last couple of months (we're randomly bringing up Curb your Enthusiasm references, so inevitably...)
