I suppose that the entire front end of EVs is a bit of a mare to design as all the traditional looks don't need to be there. Hell the entire front end doesn't need to be there now as there isn't a massive, complicated chunk of hot exploding iron there.
Canoo has a interesting take with extra vision in front with a window under the windshield.

-What is with automakers going out of their way making the ugliest possible electric vehicles they can? Is it a crime to have something that clean that doesn't look like they threw the kitchen sink at it?

Rivians have a very clean design, but no they are have no Van plans.

I really like the look of the idbuzz! It's one of the few "statement" EVs I don't think looks awful.

- I just think it has too much going on (especially that image). Two tone paint job, tinted rear windows, funkly little grille on the front, weird speed stripe things on the back A frame, just slightly tapered design so it looks more like a mistake than intentional design, tiny malformed frunk for no reason...

We should be getting a three row mini-wagon that has the footprint of a cross-over and the outline of an old school VW-Bus, but its not happening (*pounds fists* the way I WANT *throws tantrum*).

Maybe it'll look better with some additional trims. Glad someone is doing an EV mini-van, I feel like we're ready to move passed the "mini-vans are lame so I am going to get a massive land barge SUV to fulfill the same purpose but worse" phase as a society.

I have a friend that's supposed to be getting one, I'm looking forward to seeing it in reality.
Honestly one of those and a small city EV would suit my needs fairly well.

If the Rivian/Golf car was available as a hybrid I would put it near the top of my wish list.

The two tone paint jobs are to capture original VW bus nostalgia, but single color will be available.

I have a Mini Cooper and I parked next to one of those in the work car park awhile back to kinda point out how not mini they are.
Finished work in the morning and there was an original Mini Cooper parked next to me that showed how not mini the modern Mini Coopers are!
When BMW decided to push the Mini brand in the American market it was the end of Mini as Mini. The original Mini design was product of post-war scarcity. Now that we are in a perma-war era, no need for such sacrifice.

The one design is appealing but the others just look like the same Rivian just a bit smaller. Wish we could get a car version of the hatchback. Rivian seems to make a decent vehicle but their longterm financials are iffy. I think their best hope would be some carmaker that's been lagging behind in EV transition to buy them or partner. Actually maybe Subaru would be a good fit, similar demographic, and Rivian could use some investment, and Subaru could use some help working towards the EV transition.

I think that's a pointless endeavor for little benefit if not outright liability. That entire windshield setup looks silly, move the most forward supports a bit ahead of where those secondary arms are, and then you've got the same benefit with better visibility. Or move the 2nd ones back and turn them and the fully vertical ones into a single support.

Better visibility would be better achieved through cameras which will offer even better visibility as well as more versatility (see around corners/blind spots, etc).

I placed a deposit on a r2 day of reveal, can't wait to replace my model Y (bought it before we knew Elon was crazy)

With superchargers opening up there really isn't a huge reason to not consider a non tesla EV

I wouldn't mind seeing an R3 variant without the stupid lift and plastic fenders. Something more traditional hatchback.

I don't think there is much lift on the base model. Probably has 7" of ground clearance, vs a normal car with 6".

R3X with it's bigger wheels is the more "off road" oriented one with more ground clearance.

Maybe you're right. All that plastic cladding cheapens the look.

That's pretty small plastic cladding IMO. Can't please everyone. I doubt that will be a major impediment for most EV buyers.

In fact most EVs are more car oriented with lower ground clearance, like the Tesla 3 and Y, VW ID.3, ID.4, Hyundai Kona Electric, Ioniq 5, 6, Kia EV6, Niro, etc...

Having some with a bit more ground clearance is not a bad idea...
