RMA: OCZ Platinum DDR2-800?

I built my computer nine months ago with OCZ Platinum 2GB(2x1GB) DDR2-800 4-5-4-15 2.1V memory.

Since upgrading to Vista, SuperFetch seems to have actually slowed down some programs, owing to Vista having greater base memory usage, and SuperFetch having the wrong data loaded (i.e. wrong map in BF2). So, I decided to use the following time-tested solution: throw more memory at it, especially now that said memory is cheaper.

I purchased a second pair of the exact same RAM, and I installed it after it arrived today. My previous 400x8 overclock of my E6600 on my Asus P5W has become simply unattainable. 333x9 at the same voltages now fails Orthos after mere seconds. I'm willing to live with that, though, because 4GB of RAM is somewhat of a stress on the system, I would think.

But to top it all off, I don't have 4096MB of RAM. I have 3200MB. The BIOS and CPU-Z report 4096MB of RAM as installed, but the BIOS reports that 896 is "Appropriated" and that 3200MB is usable. Windows Vista only sees 3199MB.

I have begun the RMA process with Newegg, but is there anything I might be missing?

EDIT: I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

*DONE*: Thanks so much to those early hours responders, I had to enable Memory Remap in the BIOS to access all 4096MB.

What version of Vista are you running? If you have the 32bit version, then nothing is wrong with the ram you have. With a 32bit OS, you will only see a little over 3GB of ram in windows due to the fact that devices such as PCI bus, AGP, or PCI-Express have to mapped to memory. The only way to solve this is to move to a 64bit OS.

Vista Ultimate x64. Sorry, should've put that in there.

Three or four times during the overclocking process it showed 4096MB of RAM, so it's just flaky. But it still shows 3200MB in BIOS, even at DDR2-667 5-5-5-15 2.1V.

I'm dual-booting with XP Pro, if that has anything to do with it.

EDIT: your musings on 64-bit reminded me of a possible BIOS option. BRB.

Aha! Fixed, thanks so much you guys! I feel like an idiot for making more work for the people at Newegg, but meh.

I enabled Memory Remap in the Advanced-->Chipset category in the BIOS, for anyone else who runs into a similar problem.
4096MB available, thanks so much again!

Now let's see how far this 975X memory controller can go with 4x1GB!
