And without that track record, few journalistic careers stand any test of time.

And what ever was locked in the Novak memory banks is dead and unreadable, but whatever remains of paper records may enjoy a renaissance of public access. And maybe answer the question, was Robert Novak a journalists or a paid GOP shill? Or dare we hope, leave written records that show various figures perjured themselves in their denials about outing a CIA agent.

I always prefer to be an optimist about such opportunities to advance understanding regarding past history.

I won't shed any tears over him, but I would offer my sympathy and condolences to his family.

Pretty much. He was a much better spokesperson than the likes of O'Reilly/Rush/Others, being quite reasonable in comparison, but was still mostly just a talking head and not an Intellectual.

Always found him entertaining on Crossfire, where he generally asked good and reasonable questions without resorting to complete nonsense that pervades Fox News and the like. Certainly there were theatrics, but that was just part of what Crossfire was all about.
