Harmonix has posted a very nice introduction to how pro guitar works in Rock Band 3.
So looks like the real guitar is gonna come out months after then game.. Kinda lame.

Keyboard bundle is $100 at Dell right now. Not sure when it's shipping but you can just buy it at BB or wherever then return it when you get Dell shipment if you don't want to wait.
I still can't believe they are releasing this game months before the pro guitars..

The Mustang is only a few more weeks away - Amazon is claiming mid to late November depending on which platform you are on. You do have to wait longer for the Squier though. I'm sure that wasn't the original intention, but obviously it took a little longer to perfect the hardware than anticipated.
I'm not minding the Squier delay much, because I can't afford it right now anyway, but I can see how it would be irksome for many. There's no word on the actual price, but I'm expecting around $300. The Mustang is $150.
Why? Makes sense to release the game on time rather than delay the game for one accessory that not everybody will buy. Yes pro guitar is the biggest change in the game, but it's also something that I believe the majority of people won't bother with because of the added price and complexity. I mean the mad catz guitar is $150, and the real Squire guitar hasn't been priced yet but I'll assume $200-300 now that the mad catz one is so high. I expected both to be $50 cheaper.
One could argue that keyboard is the biggest change to the game, since it will be more accessible and affordable to a larger audience, but it's debatable. I agree that pro guitar will only be used by a relatively small percentage of players (but I'm among them!).
That's a good point, I forgot about the keyboard part but I'm sure plenty of folk care more about that then realistic guitar. Like you said it's cheaper to get a keyboard, and they have fairly affordable packs for it.
I think my only disappointment with this game is the "pro drums". So they now differentiate between the cymbals and pads which is a step in the right direction, but I was hoping they'd also integrate the high hat (which has another pedal) which is a MAJOR part of playing real drums. I suppose they still can but I don't think they will.
So as it stands right now as far as game to real instrument accuracy:
-singing still and always has been as accurate as it can be
-pro guitar/bass on expert is now incredibly close to real life (I don't think it can detect palm mutes or pinch harmonics)
-keyboards are accurate to the notes, but may be a little condensed to fit into a 2 octave keyboard
-drums add cymbals, but don't include hi-hats and I'm not sure if pro mode will include double bass pedal for fast songs
Even though I play guitar in real life, I like the drums the best in the game for some reason. That's probably why I'm a tad disappointed in them... it seems like they went from one of the most accurate to real life to one of the least and IMO it's one of the easier ones to make realistic.
