weird that Jasky would even post that drivel.
I'd agree with that, but your linked article is still a shitty source for political news & analysis.Congress is, by and large, a damn waste. And it's killing us.
Obama almost had a supermajority in 2009.
Passing simple legislation to affirm Roe would have, in theory, been an afternoon walk in the park.
None in leadership were interested in that. Or much of anything else, taking the entire two year period to pass the ACA. They also got Dodd-Frank. Anything else of note?

This is one where Biden would just say the court is well outside the constitution and ignore them. You can't claim one president can create a policy but the next one can't change it, especially when the only reason is what party they are from.Well they did rule that the executive can still manage foreign policy but they did make sure to reserve the idea that judges can seize control back at any time if they don’t like the executive’s policy.
It's the filibuster, gerrymandering, and too few districts that is killing Congress. If a single democrat wouldn't vote for something in 2009, it didn't even get a vote. Obama still passed the stimulus, auto bailout, dodd-frank, and ACA, over non-stop bullshit fear mongering from the right wing media. When was the last time republicans passed anything that wasn't a tax cut? No child left behind?Obama almost had a supermajority in 2009.

So now, you want to...not only ignore how biased your source site is, but...also exaggerate the value of it? LOLYou call that shitty?
Actual details of efforts in a Democrat controlled Congress to codify Roe.
Never would have heard of that otherwise.
Instead, several of you want to shit up the thread by bitching about the source.
Man...Ivanka reminds me of a Valley of the Dolls outcome. That top pic is a good example. Plastic psycho, anyone? Kushner's really no different or better either, imo.
Oh, are you referring to this?Welcome to the dysfunctional states of Gilead.

A longtime Kentucky federal judge has announced she will step down, clearing a path for President Joe Biden's controversial nomination of an anti-abortion Republican to replace her.
if you RTFA....Biden nominating the best judges:
Judge leaves, opens spot for anti-abortion pick in Biden-McConnell deal (usatoday.com)
The nomination of Chad Meredith appears to be the result of a deal with U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, ostensibly in exchange for the Senate Minority Leader agreeing not to hold up future federal nominations by the Biden White House, according to Yarmuth and other officials who confirmed the pending nomination
This actually is the biggest flaw in the reasoning of these textural literalists who keep saying things can only happen if Congress explicitly says it. They put zero emphasis on the idea that Congress can also at anytime explicitly say the opposite of what an agency is doing and by not doing so are giving assent. This is the most bonkers part of the ruling - Roberts admits it's covered by the statute and then just says that doesn't matter. His position is:
1) the law itself is constitutional
2) the regulation is consistent with the law
3) I think congress didn't really mean it though so I'm going to invalidate it anyway.
If Congress didn't mean it they are free to pass a new law limiting the EPA's authority. Roberts knows that won't happen though so he just 'passes' his own law to enact GOP policy.
Still more than enough time. They could have been drafting bills between nov and Jan. Remember most of Congress is incumbents. They're not noobs. They should have bills coming out of their ears.Democrats only had a filibuster-proof majority for 24 working days UglyJaskGreensonova.
Like maybe they did this January 2021, but nothing got done in those first month's after Congress change. But all bills passed in the house that sat on Moscow Mitch's desk, did they have to go through house votes again? Like after impeachment 2, Senate could have put up to votes many bills. But if new Congress had to start from scratch, would explain those 24 days.Still more than enough time. They could have been drafting bills between nov and Jan.
