The law allows for abortion in a very small subset of medical emergencies. Of course, with this law, that set will grow much larger than it needs to be as doctors have to allow treatable emergencies to progress to life threatening medical emergencies before intervening with proper treatment. This law is stupidly cruel, which is par for the course for conservative lawmakers.Granted I did interchange the use of words as in my thinking a medical abortion was the same as a medically life threatening abortion. I stated it incorrectly. No lie intended.
@fleshconsumed stated in his post that:
"No exceptions for rape, no exceptions for incest, and now no exception for medical emergencies."
And linked an article to back up his post.
From the article linked in his post:
"Texas has another law, passed in 2021, that will go into effect in the coming weeks which makes performing an abortion a felony punishable by up to life in prison. The ban makes an exception if a licensed physician determines that the woman faces a life-threatening physical condition."
So in reality, Texas law does allow abortion for a medical emergency. Unless that article in incorrect.
Edit: I think that Life In Prison for an abortion is way extreme and I do not agree with that at all.
Then we both are....
and an extensive social safety net. and universal pre-k. and universal healthcare.
Slow down, that all sounds like a communism. Children need to be protected from that all costs. Otherwise you are taking away the incentive for them to pick the right parents. Sheesh people
Just to make it clear, the investigation is because the dr has yet to file a criminal report of the rape as reason to perform the abortion. They aren’t going after her just because she performed the abortion.
They believe in rule of law for "others." The law is to protect them from "others." Others have no rights. Only Republicans have rights.Republicans believe in Rule Of Law when it pushes their agenda.
Otherwise its "Fuck you got mine"
"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."They believe in rule of law for "others." Okay good confirmation everything was done in timely matter. Just shows the incompetence of the AG and it was all a talking point. But here’s hoping the parents have a signed document to release the dr to allow to discuss this matter and squash the obvious move to the HIPAA violation.Indiana doctor who provided abortion services to 10-year-old rape victim reported procedure to health department, documents show | CNN
An Indiana doctor who said she recently helped a 10-year-old rape victim from Ohio get an abortion in her state reported the procedure to Indiana health officials within a required time frame, documents show, as the state’s Republican attorney general has said authorities are investigating the...amp.cnn.com

Just normal freedom stuff, that's all.To the people who claim that Republicans don't want to and won't try to end freedom to travel:

Or in the case of Ohio, punishing pre adolescent girls. This is just going to continue happening. And it's fucking infuriating.
Call this what it is... punishing women for being women.
We don't give a shit about dead mothers. From limiting drugs that are used for legitimate cases to letting women die before the baby does... We are no longer a civilized society. We're just a shithole theocracy.
Abortion laws spark profound changes in other medical care
The Supreme Court's decision to let states outlaw most abortions is having profound repercussions in reproductive medicine as well as in other areas of medical care.apnews.com
It shows the AG of Indiana cares more about a piece of paper than protecting a 10 year-old rape victim. Hopefully if he is ever raped, he is denied any emergency care.Okay good confirmation everything was done in timely matter. Just shows the incompetence of the AG and it was all a talking point. Adolescence is while you are going through puberty, as this girl is. She would've started puberty at least a year ago to have become pregnant (on average), which is early but not crazy early.Or in the case of Ohio, punishing pre adolescent girls.
EDIT: Saying pre, is because I can't recall atm from working in this heat, if adolescent is pre puberty or if pre adolescent is the equivalent of pre puberty.
I am in support of meaningful Gun Control such as:
Banning high capacity magazines.
Banning Ghost Guns.
Banning certain types of weapons.
Meaningful detailed background checks and waiting periods.
Age limits for purchasing, 21 years minimum for any gun.
Red Flag laws that are actually used and enforced.
Just for starters.
I am sure that the foster care system could use improvement, however I am not familiar enough to comment on this specific issue.
