It took me long enough to wean off of 2000, I'll be on XP for a while longer (at least, so long as I'm running Socket A).

I probably have you beat! I was running 2000 until I bought a new PC in October. Of course that means I have XP and I may keep it until MS stops supporting it in 2009.

I am grumpy about Vista because MS stripped so many "promised" features out of it yet they still have the audacity of charging $200+ for a regular version. Yuck.

I still have 2 computers running 2k professional, and if not for my sans class software requiring xp on my laptop, it would be 3. My gaming rig is Xp-64bit, but that is because it came with the 05 tech tour bundle.

I really dont forsee myself going with vista, my gaming has decreased (or at least the number of titiles has). I figure if i can stick to the games that support wine and cedega i may very well fully move to linux. Or worst case the gaming PC will remain windows, but the rest(office PC, media PC) are def not going to see another MS OS.

I just want off the merry go round....

I'm still waiting for better driver support. Today's 2/15 and what do you know... nVidia STILL hasn't come out with proper drivers. 15 days in the computer world is an eternity in my book.

Same here. Waiting contently till SP 1 before I even consider upgrading.

ditto. I'm waiting till about a month after SP 1 before I even consider it. Honestly though, is there even a real reason WHY anyone would upgrade to Vista? I haven't heard a single real advantage of having it.
Here's a Wikipedia article on new features and other changes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_features_in_windows_vista See anything you like?
Not a *single* one. Other than having to use it at work, they can stick this version of Windows up their arse.
Today is Patch Tuesday, so I fired up my Windows XP installation to patch it. It needs eight Critical updates for security issues. Some of those updates cover multiple vulnerabilties, too. This, in the "mature" OS that's two years into its current Service Pack, and about halfway through its overall lifespan.

My Vista installation, by contrast, needed zero security updates this month. It's unaffected by the issues that are rated Critical on WinXP, as you can see for yourself if you read the security bulletins. This, in the supposedly wet-behind-the-ears OS that people don't want to use until it hits SP1.

Who's sitting pretty now, eh?

Lol. Yeah XP will have more security updates than Vista but that's got to be expected right? At least Kaspersky works on XP.... but no Vista support yet. =\

Vista on a new build and XP on another older build with a KVM switch. I'm using Vista more and more, but XP is required for some tasks.
As far as the "I'm waitng on SP1" attitude, saw a post about something not working in Windows ME yesterday on another forum.
There will always be folks who proclaim "Not me!! I'm waiting on....". So what? Who cares? Does it matter? Whatever floats your boat. If you want to announce to the world that new things frighten you, go ahead. Columbus ran into the same problem in Spain and on his ships, and there is still a Flat Earth Society in existence.
Flat Earth Computing Society, maybe? Sounds like a good name for it.

Noice! I like the opposing thread you created. =)

Dear World: Things frighten me.

Carry on Brave Explorer! King Bill will reward you with Areo Glass and other riches (dx10!) for being his loyal (paying) subject! (you are keeping within the EULA for your version, aren't you ?- he will slap you silly if your not!)

I will cringe in the shadows fearing change..... What are these voices talking to me? Oh, damn you demon Ubuntu! Stop muttering your name to me! Is that the Dark Lord, Mac (he's one hip dude), rising towards me in the shadows? Oh woe is me! Fearful, coward that I am!

Sigh... I remember when most people refused to let Windows 95 go.... Times change and so will you.

*sneaks back into the clubhouse, smoking several cigarettes in rapid succession*

Hi. My name is Septimus and I formatted my Vista machine five minutes ago.

Can I come back in now? I promise, I'll be good.
