I am reluctant to make any more posts in this forum, but way too many of you are misunderstanding the infamous HelpWanted thread.

First off I just learned in this forum that Thad has quit. I know nothing more about that.

I want everyone to understand that I did not quit because a few members rejected my opinion, or because they thought I was a rude mofo, or because they called me names. Absolutely not true. My skin is a whole lot thicker than that. I'm 69 years old and have chewed and been chewed by some of the best.

But that thread did start me thinking once again about the whole of this forum, the DC community and AnandTech in general -- as it applies to me. I've been thinking about this off and on for a couple of months so my decision was probably already in the front of my mind long before the HelpWanted thread started. Anyway, I decided that I did not fit in this particluar community, didn't want to fit and no longer wanted to participate. End of story.

I certainly don't like or respect a number of members that hang out in the AnandTech forums but then I also don't like a number of people that live in my Florida neighborhood, lol. And I am not pissed off at anyone. My specific reasons for quitting are my personal reasons, apply only to me and should have no bearing on what other members do or do not do from here forward.

I'm sorry for contributing to the turmoil and apologize to the community in general for it.

TeAm, many who have been here for more than a couple years know we have survived worse. We will get through this.

Those who left with their feelings hurt, know you are welcome back anytime. You are appreciated and are already being missed.

Now that's really helpfull Mondo. Especially from a member who is so proud of his fleet that he shows it to everybody everywhere in every thread. That doesn't seem very adult to me either. Have you ever seen amdxborg post about his fleet? He's got about 300 cores crunching. Or TeAm Enterprise or the Rebel Alliance? People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.



@emjem: Have a good time, wherever you go. I don't know if you and Thad will quit crunching completely, but I hope you won't. It's still for a better world, you know.
I don't hold any grudge against you or Thad or any other member. I can actually understand why you leave.

Never thought this to happen on a forum where the admins need to do their work only once or twice a year

Still have a little mixed feelings about emjem, sorry for that... I just think that you've made a few posts to much in the other thread, although you were only responding to others.
It just wreckes me to see people leave or stop their activities and especially the people who were working so hard to make the DC community a better place..

Crazee, BadThad, please come back! You don't deserve this for all your hard work!

I've fielded several PMs in the last 24 hours, in several of them I mentioned that I suspected there was more going on than met the eye.... theat thread just didn't have the punch to really be the cause of much of the reaction we watched.

So emjem, you were considering quitting... just waiting for the right moment. While I didn't confront you about it, I did express my opinion privately that I believed you picked that fight.... now you have explained why.

I don't care if you are 69 years old or not that was a childish grab for attention and an opportunistic ploy to go out in a blaze of glory (yes, these are my opinions). Well sir your martyrdom is lost on me.

I am disgusted with you and disappointed in the members that fell for your shenanigans.

Do we really need all this infighting??? How about if everyone takes a comple of steps backwards, licks their virtual wounds, and finds better things to get upset about than this... Lord knows there's plenty of other crises that could use more attention.... sheesh....

Thanks for the stats.

I hope that cooler heads will prevail and people will calm down. At least with the enw software previously crunched units stay. This mini-wars seem to break out every once and a while and the old software used to make them even more chaotic.

I have seriously considered leaving the team on a few occasions in the past (was most tempted when "gay" was a banned word), but never decided to do so. If I ever do leave, I'm sure I'll post a short goodbye note, but I'll leave it at that. Not too likely to leave, though. I'm building my first new computer in a while and I'm sure I'll need forum members to help me through the process.
