Router, BitTorrent, Internet Surfing.

Hey guys, I have a D-Link DI-524 router and whenever I load up BitComet I can't seem to load up the Internet UNLESS I stop whatever I am downloading. I am only grabbing one file and set my upload rate to 20kb/s (my line is 6Mbps down and 800kbps up).

So is there something wrong with my router?

What speed are you downloading at? Do the pages load at all? or just slowly?

Downloading speed is approx. 50kb/s and the web pages DO NOT load @ all...however, things return to normal when I shut down BitComet.

Try torrents with uTorrent, leaving BitComet closed. Also, disable your forwarded ports for BitComet while running uTorrent.

this sounds really what i was experiencing..even if i didnt have my OWN router.

I had a problem that traffic HERE bogged down a router 4 hops from me.

You can check what's going on...eg. load up bit and do your thing and *try* to do a tracert (from START --> RUN--> CMD)

eg. tracert www.yahoo.com

and check how far it goes.

All the usual tweak of course still apply, eg. on your end. Also...try what happens without your router plugged it...to make sure its actually the router and not somewhere else.
