is your router negotiating the pppoe login, if not it should. What have you done to configure the router and what specifically is it not doing, you are a little vague in your post.

this guy is right...also if you are using Verizon DSL, I think it's Linksys that they want you to use. I know I have been on a few calls with people who used some other brands of routers and Verizon wouldn't even give tech support to you....they just repeated to me that "we don't support anything other then Linksys Products".
You might need to configure your router to use PPPoE. This article shows how to do it with a Linksys router and Bellsouth DSL...but the idea and functions are going to be the same.
