Internet and everthing was working fine today until all of the sudden I dont have internet.
DHCP is enabled, I have IP address set to 'obtain IP automatically' and my DNS Server is my router 192.168.2.1. Now I dont beleive I checked my IP address before really but it was probably in the 192.168.2.X range like the other computer connected to the router. But it was now 169.254.103.233.

So I tried manually changing it to 192.168.2.101 and I still couldn't connect. I couldn't even access my routers control panel through my browser. So for now I just unplugged the cable that goes from the cable modem into the router directly into my PC. It cant be like this for long though because the other people need internet access. My question is why would it quit working all of the sudden. And can someone help me out here?

Try a different cable between the router and pc or a different port on the router. The 169.254.x.x address indicate that the pc is not connnecting to the dhcp server, in this case the router.

Different port didn't work.

So I manually configured my PC to 192.168.2.101 again with the routers IP as the Default gateway and Preferred DNS Server and I can connect to the router and the internet works. But as soon as I want my computer to obtain the IP automatically it doesn't work. Even though DHCP is enabled in the routers settings.

I dont know what the problem could be... Will I have any problems just keeping my computers IP static?

No, static should be fine on that one pc. Its a bit strange though, especially if the other pc's are working normally, but a happy ending is a good ending.

I dont know, cant say that I know much about routers. I just remember Belkin Tech Support saying to enter my routers IP under the DNS server a while back.

Hmm, I don't know a whole lot about DNS or routers (and less about Belkin products) but that just seems wrong. Is it some sort of technology where the router acts as a proxy for an external dns server?

Is your modem also acting as a DNS server? This might cause some confusion for the poor PC.
