Router speed slows after computer reboot

I have this 3 Com 3CR858-91 Router which appears to be working fine except every morning after turning on the computer the download speed is lowered to 3 Mbps when it's normally 5 Mbps. This is easily fixed by restarting the router...I then have 5 Mbps again. Restarting the modem doesn't help...only the router.

It is very possible that the router is not configured correctly because I am no expert in this area. Otherwise it works perfectly and usually supplies both my computers the right download speeds.

Is my router defective, or is there something in the setup I should look out for so I don't have to keep manually restarting the router every day to get the right speeds?

This is Not a usual occurence in Routers.

The only think that comes in my mind is related to external IP lease form the ISP during idling time.

Check the Router's WAN side menus, and see if the "Keep always alive" is checked (if there is such entry on this specific Router).

Otherwise, try 3Com support may be they know something about this device that is not a common knowledge.

Couldn't find an option anything like "Keep always alive". Searched for, but couldn't find others with this problem at 3Com's knowledge base site; will keep looking for other 3Com support for answers. Thanks for your help.

BTW the firmware is the latest. I had the problem before I updated it and afterwards.
