Rubio's is definitely Baja MEX. Fish tacos were pretty good but I didn't know that they were smothered with crema de leche.
I could have just as well have gone to Sons of Norway and had lutafisk. OK, that's simply not fair. I could eat Rubio's fish tacos every week of the year and I could barely eat lutefisk once a year. see
http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~atman/ic/lutefisk.html for the reason as to why.
Fries were outstanding, fresh and HOT! Heat hot, not spicy.
Nothing that I tried there is very spicy...and I love HOT Mexican food...especially Chili Verde.
But I'm addicted to the spicy hot Colorado and New Mexico foods, and have been for 45 years.
BTW, $1 fish tacos were only available Tuesdays 4PM to closing. Maybe a local thing. I'll go back, I just won't go out of my way.
Again, Thanks Irad. Coupons are the only way to go in Denver when visiting Rubio's.
