I like prog rock/metal, but can't stand Rush. I bought 2112 after reading some many people liked it. I hated it. Ejected the disc and snapped it in half.

Why? Even people who don't like Rush, even people who don't like prog rock, agree that's it one of the best rock albums ever.
Straight out of Ayn Rand and why it's one of my most favorite verses.
I despised the way it sounded; the shrill vocals and wimpy guitar. I just don't care for them in general. I'll listen to just about anything if recorded well and the sound quality is good.

The sleep is still in my eyes
the dream is still in my head
I heave a sigh and sadly smile
and lie a while in bed
I wish that it might come to pass
not fade like all my dreams
I wonder what my life might be
in a world like I have seen
I dont think I could carry on
carry on this cold and empty life
I saw Rush in concert every time they came to my city form the early/mid-80s to the early '90s, probably a dozen concerts in all.
Excellent shows live.
I have memory and awareness,
But I have no shape or form.
As a disembodied spirit,
I am dead and yet unborn.
I have passed into Olympus
As was told in tales of old,
To the city of Immortals,
Marble white and purest gold...
I wish to meet your crack dealer.
You're crazy. I accept that some people don't like Rush, but to makes such a claim indicates a significant detachment from reality.
Hippie.
I like heavier sounding guitars like Dream Theater, Meshuggah, Fear Factory. No hate for Rush, I just dislike their sound. In the end it's all ice cream.
heavier as in Dream Theater?
I must have the wrong CD.

nothing heavy in Dream Theatre except one album which I think is heavy on guitar, not with heavy guitar.

You don't get something for nothing,
You can't have freedom for free.
You won't get wise with the sleep still in your eyes,
No matter what your dream might be.
Know your place in life is where you want to be,
Don't let them tell you that you owe it all to me.
Keep on looking forward; no use in looking 'round,
Hold your head above the ground and they won't bring you down.
I saw Triumph at the Toledo Speedway Jam. They were supposed to be the opening band (Heart, J. Geils, Blackfoot, Triumph), but they must have gotten there late so they played last. Everybody left so they played for like 1000 of us. It was great.Triumph fvckin ROCKS!!!!
