NLAW is a relatively new system for the Swedish army and so it's still being procured. Pansarskott 86 (AT4) is from the cold war and we still have quite a lot of them left.
No talk about increasing the budget other than maybe accelerating already existing plans. We'll see next week.

I’m struggling to see how this ends with Ukraine being less of a threat to Russian national security after this war than it was before.

There will be a LOT of Ukrainian families with dead relatives looking for revenge.
With the kindling of unrest across Russia. It would be easy for Ukraine to convince Georgia and Chechnya to take up arms and take back their land.

Constitutions are good and all, but at the end of the day, we need to remember that they are just words on paper. Unscrupulous leaders have no problems ignoring the words written down. Many authoritarian governments have constitutions that claim to value human rights and what not.

True, but some systems have more fail safes than others, and Germany has a very strong constitution and a population who are aware of their historical heritage.

Sure, a majority of the population wants to disband democracy, it can be hard to stop.

But as a European who has always believed, that no matter how bad it turned out America was always there to help us, the four years with Trump made me realize it is time for us to step up, and face the fact, that US might be a democracy that abandons its values and alliances, and then we are royally f*cked.

Ukrainians have been wowing me hourly since all this started. I can't wait to visit and spend shit loads of money.

I've had the same thought. Never thought about visiting Ukraine before, but now I'd like to. My Ukrainian coworker went this summer and sent out a ton of pictures, looks really cool, lots of history.

They are playing a dangerous game here. I think they thought everyone would just let them do whatever because daddy Vlad threatened nukes and now they are doubling down.

It also seems like an admission they've lost of they are talking about a world without Russia.

If this is accurate, well done Ukraine I know we need to keep this in perspective, Iraq 2.0 had it's share of losses, but then again we had air superiority.

My sympathies to the Russians who were unaware of their mission and wanted no part of this, and their families. I think it's criminal to send hardly trained, poorly supplied teenagers to go get shot at and blown up. I have little to no sympathy for subservient Chechens and Ingush however. Those guys talk all kinds of shit when they're beating on Syrian civilians, but as Ukraine demonstrated they catch bullets, rockets and drone missiles no differently than anyone else.
