Not seen Putin's table from this angle before (I believe it was at the height of his covid paranoia). What an insult to those on the other side!

Bahahahahaha - WTF is that thing on the left table?

Straight out of a James Bond movie... from the 70s.

Do you press one of those buttons and a big fukking shark pool appears or something?

Actually, it's most likely an outlet for headphones used for real-time language translation. Dial, 1/4" plug-in, on/off light/switch. Each seat has one. Refined look compared to the temporary use translation booths and headphone stations I used to install for remote multi-language conferences.

If we cared about lives. About pain and suffering around the world. About food and famine....
We would have attacked Russia ourselves months ago and taken the Black Sea from them.
Now, because of our inaction, Russia gets to once again block food and plunge millions into starvation.

Blocking food is an act of war. Africa cannot defend themselves. But we can.

We should be providing escort. Let the dumb fucks try to fire on a US Destroyer. Defending food shipments in international waters is not an act of war.

Putin was already strangling the deal by slowing inspections at Istanbul causing ships to pile up and export volumes to fall. Renewal in mid November looked dicey at best though Turkey has a lot of influence over what happens ultimately. If Russian ships or ships carrying Russian cargoes start having a lot of delays trying to dock at Turkish ports or transit the Bosporus thats a huge problem for Putin. Let alone if he ever wants Erdogan to allow Russian Naval assets to transit.

If we cared about lives we would have started WWIII? I think you've forgotten the grim math involved regarding how few Russian missiles would need to function in order to End Life As We Know It. Africa is not part of NATO. America is not in danger of starvation. Pain and suffering on this scale is horrible, no argument there, but please don't kid yourself, it's all on account of Putin and Russia's actions. Don't worry, people in Africa and Asia are well aware of it, no one blames the West for this mess except Putin and his supporters.

I understand the hate man, I really do, but being that trigger happy is just counterproductive rage. Everyone (still alive) would eventually starve anyway were we to welcome in a nuclear winter. What happens to all the pain and suffering in the world when America and it's allies can't help those who need it, or even themselves?

What we have right now is pretty good and far more sustainable for Ukraine than it is for Russia. We're keeping the support and assbeating below a certain threshold so Russia doesn't adopt certain tactics - while Russia continues to crumble under sanctions, while government and military both are routinely exposed as feckless at best, criminally incompetent at worst. Oh and winter is almost here.

If Americans want to help with world hunger there are plenty of ways to do that without resorting to WWIII. I would suggest starting with Haiti though, the need is great and they are far closer.

Fuck the Red Cross. Don't let your donation be sliced apart for 3rd parties For hot spots of suffering like Haiti, Eastern Africa, Afghanistan going as direct as you can makes even more of a difference.

In order for US warships or NATO ones to enter the Black Sea, Turkey would have to allow it. Not going to happen.

Well Romania is a thing that exists....

What do you mean?

Romania's been shipping Ukrainian grain out of Constanta since August haven't they?

You referring to their handful of corvettes and frigates?

Relatedly Ukraine is presently having the Bystore Canal dredged. Increasing the channel depth means slightly deeper draft (and higher DWT) ships probably up to 5m can use it relieving some pressure on the constrained Sulina Canal to access Reni and Izmail.

The Turks say the shipments will keep moving. Making Erdogan extremely mad at you by sinking neutral shipping that has his blessing would be very very bad for Russia.

Ukrainian Food Shipments to Keep Moving in Pushback to Putin

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...itter-business&utm_content=business#xj4y7vzkg

Ukraine, Turkey and the United Nations agreed to have vessels carrying food from Ukrainian ports sail on Monday, pushing back against Russia after its withdrawal from a deal to allow safe passage of Ukraine’s grain exports.

The announcement followed a round of talks that included Russian delegates, who were informed that ship movements would resume after a pause on Sunday, the UN said in a statement.

Turkey and the UN, which worked for months to broker the safe-transit deal for grain shipments from three Ukrainian ports, took the lead in seeking to save the initiative after Russia said it would pull out indefinitely following an attack on its Black Sea fleet.

“The Ukrainian, Turkish and United Nations delegations agreed on a movement plan” for 16 vessels -- 12 outbound and four inbound -- to use the “maritime humanitarian corridor” on Oct. 31, according to the statement.
