Rather than burry these in some 1000 page thread, may as well make them easy to find.

The performance is better than I expected. Fair bit faster than a 5700XT, but at a lot lower power consumption. Ray Tracing is poor, but that should not be a surprise. I do find it sad that TPU had to change their `Performance per Dollar` chart to include the obscene street prices

Owned for 12 years XFX 5850 card with "Lifetime Warranty" and was happy because hoping one day when card will give up XFX will replace it with BRAND NEW and MODERN card like they did before. So I send my "WONDER CARD" for replacement and today, like "Holiday Surprise" received same 12 year old refurbished one(E8ay $25). So I refused to accept and send it back with "BEST WISHES" and NEVER XFX AGAIN.
Guys BEWARE for XFX WARRANTY SCAMS !!!!!
Friend of mine(E8ay seller) told me someone is buying all old XFX cards in row and he's guessing XFX does it to "COVER" expensive warranties .
LOL. GOOD LUCK XFX.
Boy, you must be fun at parties. Remind me never to do business with you.

Hmm, my expectations really werent like this. I was hoping to have some support at least because tomorrow you'll be next.

I am genuinely curious what you would have been OK with receiving back for your card. Honestly, hit me with the range of “fine, I’ll take it” to “holy cow, this is a great surprise!”

Clearly a likely functional exact replacement was insulting enough to result in these thread updates, so it must have been extremely wide of the mark…

-And he was so offended that this tripe is taking up two threads...

Don't really know too much about how warranty works in the US, but here if something breaks you're entitled to either getting the thing repaired or a functionally equivalent replacement if repairs fail. The merchant has about three tries to repair (depending on several factors). For the first two years. Anything above that is goodwill from both store and manufacturer.

Honouring a 12 year warranty is above and beyond.

Im sorry if you felt wrong, but lets be straight here...
They gave you a refurbished card for a 12 yr old card.

ASUS / GIGABYTE / MSI gives out REFUBISHED cards for cards that are not even older then 1 month after you can not return the card to the vendor you bought it from.

So again im sorry you felt wrong, but im sure there are a lot more people who felt castrated when they realized there 2500 dollar 3090 will be replaced with a REFURBISHED with the fault of only being 2 months old.

Well, just clicked the "Buy" button on a 6600 XT @775CAD to replace my aging GTX 970. It was the only card I could buy that would offer shipping to my door step since all others were for in-store pickup only and were an 8 hour drive.

I know it's not the best card out there but will certainly be an upgrade to my 970.

If actual gamers are really buying these cards at the markup prices... I'd hate to see what future MSRPs will be.

Received my ASRock 6600 XT Challenger D OC today. Did a clean install of the AMD drivers after uninstalling NVIDIA drivers properly.

Card feels cheap in construction (one of the pegs that fix the plastic shroud was loose but nothing too bad) but is very silent.
Card has some coil whine but it's less than the freaking noise my 970 did.
Had to update the BIOS on my ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 to be able to enable Smart Access Memory but it was easy.

I now have 85fps on a mix of High/Very High settings in New World instead of 40fps on low.

BUT...there's one annoying flaw with what looks like a combo of AMD drivers and the 6600 XT: Anytime the screen or the PC goes to sleep, it reboots. Read a lot of reports about this problem and it seems to exists since the 21.6.X drivers, probably earlier. I tried the 21.8.2 WHQL and the 21.10.2 non WHQL and both have this problem. I guess we'll have to wait for future drivers that sill solve this problem.

Card is nice, AMD Radeon Software is annoying, overall 7.5/10 for the first 2 hours experience

Maybe disabling ulps could help with that.

I can't say I've had that particular problem, but thanks for the heads-up. Been running for two months without issues now.

I do use the minimum install option however. I wonder if its some of the add-on software messing up?

There are a bunch of these cards on newegg in a combo with another component. Prices start at $582 and go up from there. They also have the faster cards available if you have the coin.

Too bad they don't have any 3070s

I did a Full install but I think I will try the Minimum install. thanks for the tip!

Maybe disabling ulps could help with that.
I will certainly try that if nothing else works, thanks!

Odd issue, is this unique to the 6600 series? I believe my 5700 XT cards never had this issue, and I believe I am currently on the 21.6.1 WHQL for them. Anyway I hope you get it resolved. Some tinkering, such as disabling UPLS as mentioned, may help.

I read a bit further and it seem that it happened with the 5000 series too. Looks like you and @psolord are right about disabling ULPS.

So when I got back home earlier today, I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them (21.8.2 WHQL) with a "Minimal install" instead of a "Full install" and disabled ULPS in the registry.

So far so good, PC don't reboot when the screen goes in sleep mode. I will keep an eye on it for some time but looks stable now!

Interesting, I never had this issue with my 5700XT cards, and I don't think I ever disabled ULPS on them. Good to hear that it is working better so far, hope it stays that way!

Sleep mode issues were/are a problem for me with polaris cards. I figured it was mostly due to the older motherboards not being UEFI vs new UEFI based gpu's.
