So I have some wonkiness to report which may be related to the X3D issues ASROCK's been having. The system booted fine with FCLK 2200 so I was like, hey, let's try 2233. What's the worst that could happen? I wish I hadn't. It refused to boot. It would power up but it would appear to be dead. Only some mobo LEDs were on but the AIO pump and fans were running at really low speed with no noise (could even have been off. Didn't check).
So after a few patient reboots and a cold start by taking out the power plug from the PSU, I was left with no choice but to reset the CMOS. Take out the power plug from the PSU again (as instructed in manual), short the relevant pins for 3 seconds or more, turn the PC on, fully expecting it to work now and...NOTHING. Same as before. Now I was seriously worried. Did I manage to fry the CPU??? Few more restarts and nothing. Took out the power plug again, back in and it finally came to life with BIOS defaults loaded. Phew. That was a BAD experience. Usually my ASROCK Z790 mobo is able to show a message saying that system failed to boot and that is what I was expecting here too.
This was pretty frustrating and anyone with less patience than me would just declare the system dead and RMA it.
