Not necessarily. I have a GeForce 2 MX 200, and I have no problem using the tv and the monitor at the same time, and I have them running asychronously, ie. at different resolutions (monitor=1024X768, and tv=800X600, 5 year old crap tv) In your control panel, select add new hardware, and add a generic television in the standard devices in the monitor section. Then go to the display properties, and clone the 1st monitor. Select the 2nd monitor in the drop down box, and select extend my desktop onto this monitor. Then restart. After restarting, go back into the display properties, and and select the 2nd monitor in the drop down again, and click on the advanced tab. go to the monitor section, and change the monitor to the generic television you installed. After doing this, go to the Geforce tab in the advanced section, and look for the device settings, select tv if it is not already selected. Also, for the video out format, select composite or S-video, and select the device adjustments. Turn the tv on and make adjustments to center the picture. Click apply to apply all the settings, hit ok, then click apply again if necessary. You should now be able to use 800X600 resolution as well. Follow these instructions explicitly. I am sure they work as I spent quite a bit of time myself to get it up and running. Let me know if you have problems.
