I am looking for all the information I can - links, reviews, pictures. I am also wondering what you here have to say about this monitor. How do you like it? Color, sharpness, screen, etc. I do not do gaming, mostly productivity, etc.

Thanks.

if u plan to set it on high resolution (1024 and up) then forget about it. It's not so much about the sharpness or the image quality but the refresh rate. This monitor doesn't have high refresh rate.
This comes from someone who is looking at it right now

If you like running at a resolution of 1152*864 or less, then it's well worth the money spent. If you like running at like 1600*1200, then I suggest the 900nf since that will allow you to run at 85hz refresh rate. I'm using the 955df right now and I have to say that its really great for the resolution of 1152*864, but I won't run it any higher since I start getting below the 85hz refresh rate. I hope to someday get a 900NF so I can run a dual monitor setup

I bought one after comparing all the 19" monitors CompUSA by watching thirty minutes of Shrek. The Sony was marginally but cost 50% more. The Samsung was crisper than the 15" and 17" LCDs. BTW the Samsung is a heavy sucker.

I'm thinking about getting one of these as well, and I stumbled across an interesting comment while doing some research on this monitor. One user commented on CNet that there might be 2 different versions of the 955DF, and I actually started wondering the exact same thing before I saw his post. Check out what another person said:

"I recently purchased a SyncMaster 955DF. The reviews I have read, and the advertisements pictured, show that this product should have a "pop-out" control panel. Mine does not. Instead, the control panel on mine matches that of a lower-priced Samsung model, the 905b. However my monitor is still labeled 955DF. I'm not sure what this means."

Does anybody know anything about this? If there really is more than one version out there, is the only difference in the control panel/buttons, or do they actually have different picture quality? If you read the user reviews on CNet, you can see that some people think this monitor is great, and others think its horrible. You're going to find variation in customer opinion over any given product, but there seems like there's a lot more disagreement over this monitor than most others.

I think the confusion is that some of the promo pictures showed a monitor with a pop-out control, like some Samsung models have. But on the Samsung web site the 955DR definitely has the simple buttons. Either the promo pictures are from a different model, or Samsung has changed the model's controls.

To illustrate the confusion, look at this picture from the Anandtech Review Link It shows a pop-out panel. But on the very next page, Link, it shows a close up of the simple buttons. Can't have it both ways.
