Samsung optical units.

I'm planning upgrading both my optical units (dvd and cd-rw). I've found a local hardware store that is giving a good deal with these two:

SAMSUNG SD-616T DVD-ROM

SAMSUNG SW-252B CD-RW

The CD-R has an 8MB buffer, wich I think it's pretty good, and it get 8/10 at cdrlabs.com.
I want your opinions, people!

at 52x an 8 meg buffer lasts all of 1 second. burn proof or whatever is far more important

Yes, it has Justlink (Buffer Under Run Proof Technology).

I got the 48x samsung cd-rw. Burns cd's fine and kind of quiet when using it to play cd's.

Hey..it's 1.05 seconds

Seriously he's right...8MB buffer is fine...standard for a burner that fast I guess.
But just look for BurnProof, JustLink or whatever other things they are called. As long as you've got one of those you're in good shape.

I haven't used a Samsung CDR, but if it's getting 8/10 it's probably alright, and as long as you've got burnproof it can't be that bad

Samsung DVD ROMs are in my experience perfectly drives.
I'm still using one of the classics, Toshiba 12x/40x, but the Samsung drives are good, I know a few peopel that use them.

i have a samsung 48x16x48x drive and it works perfectly...it doesn't have mt. rainer which i won't use ever probably...i don't really think it matters between a liteon drive or a samsung or anything else for that matter...it's just a cdrw drive...i have a liteon dvd drive and it works fine...i look for sales and the samsung was on sale so i got that and i've been happy ever since...
