She's the woman who was jailed in the aftermath of a minor traffic stop in Prarie View, Texas, and who then, 3 days later, supposedly committed suicide in Texas jail because, you know, she had nothing to live except perhaps her new job at the college which was her alma mater, which had brought her back to Texas.

The police dashboard video confirms that the arresting office was on an illegal power trip. Pretty effing disgusting, and sad.

She may have been mentally ill as well, according to her own admission on a video 5 months ago.

http://abc7chicago.com/news/naperville-woman-who-died-in-texas-jail-claimed-depression-ptsd/855439/

"I'm suffering from something that some of you all may be dealing with right now. It's a little bit of depression as well as PTSD,"
It appears she's also had run ins with the law in the past as well

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-sandra-bland-video-20150721-story.html

Court records show Bland had several encounters with police in both Illinois and Texas over the past decade, including repeated traffic stops and two arrests for drunk driving, one of which was later dismissed.
She was also charged twice with possession of a small amount of marijuana. A 2009 case was dismissed, but she pleaded guilty last year to the other charge and was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
A decade earlier, in June 2004, Bland was charged with one count of retail theft of less than $150 in Elmhurst, Illinois. She pleaded guilty and was fined.

I could see abusive cops pushing a person over the edge. By threatening them, telling them the "consequences" of their encounter. How she'd be a felon, fired from her job, future is now over ,etc.

She probably knew what it's like, from others, on that "side of town" she likely grew up in. She wanted a better future for herself, worked all her life to get it, and was being crushed by evil hateful people in uniform.

I could really see how they are in a position to make a vulnerable person snap.

Not uncommon for someone to smoke a cigarette to cover the smell of alcohol or marijuana. I don't think he was moving out of the range of the camera but moving the conversation so that he was not close to moving traffic as officer have been struck by passing traffic.

The police dashboard video confirms that the arresting office was on an illegal power trip.

Nothing was confirmed to be illegal. The sheriff's office said procedures weren't followed correctly but that doesn't equate to illegal activity.

PSA: comply with police orders and complain about them later on after you have been sent on your merry way.

Im sure they would have if she didnt "hang" herself 3 days later with a plastic garbage bag.

Yeah, its a huge conspiracy to protect nothing illegal on the part of the officer. He had his friend in lockup off this person who could have done exactly nothing to the arresting officer. Sounds like a great soap opera script to me.

Empowered cop with an attitude problem and an apparently uncooperative "victim" behaving erratically.

What could go wrong?

What facts does prior drinking related arrests have to do with this situation? The answer is nothing.

Ignore everything else where it suits you? She had previous drug arrests. She was also possibility mentally ill. Both are pertinent to this case.

Prior drinking arrests have nothing to do this with this case at all. She wasnt arrested for drinking and driving. She was arrested for kicking that cop. A cop which was acting ridiculous. She supposedly hung herself 3 days later. Which again, has nothing to do with previous drinking arrests.

What is your personal take on the behavior of the officer in that video?

I more concerned with the mentally ill part. that can explain pretty much everything. from her combative attitude to the suicide.

That though does not leave the cop blameless. instead of trying to deescalate the matter he chose to provoke it and push her at every step. Yes i know its training to be in control. Seems to me the way cops are trained causes more problems then it solves

You've said as much, twice. That wasn't all that was mentioned.

She was arrested for kicking that cop. A cop which was acting ridiculous.

Again, complain about police actions afterwards. Not complying with an officer and certainly assaulting them is going to land you in the clink every time. Her behavior was just as deplorable as his and his behavior doesn't give her an excuse to break the law.

illegal power trip? I'm not 100% on the facts, but unless he already gave her the warning and said she was free to go....he had every legal right to order her out.

A: Prior convictions don't mean she was doing anything this time. Just because you plead guilty to something in the past doesn't mean all future "crimes" are a guilty until proven innocent scenario.

B: When you repeat something "the media" reported... you're doing the same goddamn thing. Don't act like you're an innocent objective party. You made the choice to spread the information about her character. Did you do that for no reason? Are you just compulsive about it and your OCD kicked in that this thread lacked for that information? You made the choice.

What I don't understand is why she was in jail for 3 days. Her family or friends could have wired the money to a local Bail Bondsman and she could have been out the same day or following morning. Her bond was $500 so the Bail Bondsman would have required $50 to bail her out.
