Here's a pro-tip for all you pea brains out there:

Don't act like an idiot over something so trivial as a traffic warning and get yourself thrown in jail, like an idiot.
Don't kill yourself, again like an idiot.

This is exactly like that 17 YO Darwin candidate from a few weeks ago who got shot by the cop after attacking the cop over a ticky tack traffic stop.

Knowing when to just STFU is a good thing in most cases.
Just shut up and lick their boots, damn't.

Lick those boots real good.

That mentality is the same problem that asshole cops use about putting up with citizens BS.

She didn't want to lick his boots, and he wasn't going to lick hers. Welcome to the same old same old on repeat.

Except one is supposedly paid & trained to handle the situation and the other isn't. Why can't they just do their jobs professionally and not help provoke negative response? If they haven't got the mental attitude to perform as a professional, they should look for other work.

Of course, by "licking her boots", you mean allowing her to continue legally smoking her cigarette. Legally.

Poor, poor cop. What a rough week it's been for him, I'm sure.

The worst part is small government conservatives cheering on authoritarianism.

Shows you what they really are about - enforcing authority no matter what.

You guys should be ashamed of yourself.

You realize except for you boot licker types no one is ever going to trust the police again, right, with more and more of these stories coming up?

Heck, forget traffic stops, I don't even talk to cops anymore even those who are off duty. The minute I find out someone I'm casually chatting with is a cop I leave the area, and I'm as squeaky clean as they come. This will keep continuing, until cops are de-facto ostracized.

Sounds like a plan that will never work...considering millions of people still call them millions of times a year for urgent help. That's something that the "police exist as a tax arm" fail to understand. The only real solution in your case is to completely remove domestic policing in this country. Which, unfortunately, is what a lot of anarchists secretly want.

Of course, they want that until someone burglarizes them, steals their stuff, and leaves them up shit creek.

Then you're just simply an idiot; a reactionary fool who can't be bothered with reasoning and who self-marginalizes himself and his 'movement' by not realizing what an irrational buffoon he is.

^^ that's not what I meant by ostracism. People will still call them for help of course, because there's no choice. Basically treating them like armed thugs that might turn against you unexpectedly. But there will be a pervasive sense of mistrust that won't let people get any closer, be friendly, treat them like normal people in society. Just the same as having a mobster live on the same street with you - you're polite and get out of their way but they aren't getting invited to your son's birthday party.

For the apologists, some info from the Cato Institute: The National Police Misconduct Reporting Project.

What it is:

http://www.policemisconduct.net/about/npmsrp-faq/

The daily recap, start at today's date and work your way back.

http://www.policemisconduct.net/

Or, for statistics and various reports:

http://www.policemisconduct.net/statistics/

And, for those who may not know who the Cato Institute is:

"The Cato Institute is an American libertarian think tank headquartered in Washington, D.C. It was founded as the Charles Koch Foundation in 1974 by Ed Crane, Murray Rothbard, and Charles Koch,[6] chairman of the board and chief executive officer of the conglomerate Koch Industries.[nb 1] In July 1976, the name was changed to the Cato Institute.[6][7] Cato was established to have a focus on public advocacy, media exposure and societal influence.[8] "

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cato_Institute

From their FAQs

Why do you hate cops?

This project is about police misconduct. There is a fundamental lack of information about police misconduct in the U.S. and we are simply trying to do what we can to find the truth about how extensive a problem police misconduct really is, what types of misconduct are most prevalent, what factors increase or decrease the likelihood of police misconduct, and what trends might affect police misconduct rates.

The fact is this, without statistical and trending information about police misconduct, it is impossible to say whether police misconduct is a problem in the U.S. or not. We are simply trying to create a ruler with which we can measure police misconduct so that people can determine for themselves if it is really a problem they should care about.

Also, ordinary citizens are not the only people who become victims of police misconduct, sometimes police officers themselves are victims of misconduct and we track those reports as well. Police misconduct affects everyone, the public and police alike. By being open and transparent about police misconduct, this project can help police do their jobs better since gaining the trust of the public helps them gather the information and cooperation they need to do their jobs effectively.

So you are basically going to treat police like how racist white people treated black people?

Lick those boots real good.

I'm smart enough not to live my life by some idiotic slogan.

If the cop is in the wrong, take it to court like a grown up.

Or, act like an idiot, get thrown in jail, and hang yourself a few days later.

Which is the smarter thing to do?

Your characterization of someone acting like a responsible adult as a "boot licker" says a lot about where you're at mentally.

No the exact reverse. The way black people treated racist white people who had the power to rage at them, beat them and kill them while facing no consequences for those actions. Basically, keep dealings with them to a minimum, and completely avoid when possible.

At least, till I make it to the top 10% or 5% in terms of $$. Then $ rules and I don't have to worry about this anymore.

Yes, that woman was totally out of line by legally smoking her cigarette. She'd be alive today, if only she'd have just stopped doing something she's legally allowed to do, and did whatever that cop told her to. Because he has a badge and a gun.

Sounds to me like he's going to treat cops the way cops treat black people.

Well if we all keep returning treatment to each other that way, who's going to go to the birthday party!?

Honestly, this sheds light on why we are still racist as a country. We are such a petty and vindictive nation, so many people feel the need to have the last word or give back two-fold what they've received. God forbid someone suck up their pride for the night.

It's just like this stupid traffic stop. Two people too proud of themselves to be willing to back down from an altercation that was clearly started over disrespect.

I wasn't like this, but that story about the old Indian guy who was paralyzed for doing nothing wrong - just for looking suspicious, and not being able to speak english - really rattled me.

I really don't think I can be a normal person around these people anymore. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what sets them off, and there are mostly no consequences - even suing only seems to punish the tax payers.

Everyone goes to the birthday party except the cops. That's what I meant by social ostracism. And this isn't petty and vindictive behavior. It's a basic lack of trust. Why do you think muslims have a difficult time in this country? It's the exact same reasons. I feel bad for the good ones in both communities, but this is human nature.

Yes, the traffic stop was two people too proud to back down, but only one with the power to legally inflict violence and take away a person's freedom. That person is also the one with the burden of responsibility in exercising that power. And guess who didn't?

She's be alive today if she didn't HANG HERSELF. But hey, who cares about facts when you can trot out imbecilic statements like "boot licker" and ignore the fact that this nutcase woman decided to kill herself. I'm sure her hanging was staged just like 9/11 and the moon landing, right?

See, what you guys don't realize is I come from a country where there are no checks on the Police, where torture in jail is common, and corruption and bribery common.

You guys have (had?) a good thing going on here, where authority was respected but there were checks and balances, and consequences. What I'm seeing is a gradual decline to standards that are in my home country (which btw, are improving). Even worse, people are cheering it on. It's just sad.

Muslims have a hard time here because we are racist as #@%! towards them. It's terrible.

Think about how the good cops (of which are a majority) will feel, when they see you be rude or evasive to them for actions based on a minority? It's almost the same scenario as the "White girl in a elevator with a black guy" She is going to avoid eye contact, clutch her purse, and hold her breath as she rushes out. Think about what that does to the completely normal guy?

http://www.businessinsider.com/obam...mmerman-trial-verdict-racial-profiling-2013-7

There are very few African-American men in this country who haven't had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store. That includes me," Obama said.

"There are very few African-American men who haven't had the experience of walking across the street and hearing the locks click on the doors of cars. That happens to me — at least before I was a senator. There are very few African-Americans who haven't had the experience of getting on an elevator and a woman clutching her purse nervously and holding her breath until she had a chance to get off. That happens often."

I didn't say the cop killed her, functional illiterate.

Thanks for the effort, though.

She may also still have been alive IF the jail had followed procedure and performed hourly checks like they were supposed to.

But it's always easier to blame the victim, especially when they're dead.
