They quoted me 3 weeks, and I don't think I have much of a choice.

so it does go to HK
:Q

i don't think i like that at all . . . they should have a better warranty exchange program . . . something to consider when buying a new card

Buy from NewEgg even if they are a couple of bucks more than other places. Newegg has a good RMA policy.

newegg's RMA policy is actually now quite terrible.

a lot of the hardware makers now, say you have to RMA to your retailer.

this is ok, uless you buy at newegg and it is on their list of stuff that is (warranty only through manufacturer) and they refuse to rma you. that is what their site seems to say on about half their products now.

back when newegg was small , they would RMA things for you to the manufacturer or distributor so this really added to the whole buy it from newegg they have good service mystique. so if your MB died after 7 months and it had a 1 year wararnty newegg woudl handle it. alas those times are over, so you have to call the manufacturer yourself and do things like pay $15 (sapphire is a pretty low cost outfit as far as ATI cards go... so i dont really expect all the frills you'd get say buying a much more expensive ASUS ati card or BBA).

anyhow... all i have to say is newegg is living on reputation alone. that and RMAing direct to a manufacturer when a retail store wont do it for you (or you lost your receipt) and getting charged is well... something to be expected now, especially on lower cost items.

If ATI was a responsible company they'd pull thier licence instead rewarding Sapphire by having them build their BBATI cards. More evidence I'l probably never buy ATI again no matter how fast they are. Essentially This card is "as is" to the unsuspecting customer who thinks they are getting a warranty.. You get a better warranty buying a used XFX in forsale forum.
Heh, and you can't even get a warranty from Nvidia.

Is that so? Link me to an nvidia made card for retail sale and I'll check the warranty on it.
My point exactly.

until they see lower profit margins and decide to cancel it.

I say you'll be fired from every job you ever get, and live on credit cards till they're siezed.

What, don't believe me?

I bought a sapphire radeon 9600 and was disappointed by their customer service. After I replaced that with my 5900 Ultra, I heard their service got better.....Hm....maybe not as good as I was hoping.

He was basically saying that you can't tell what going to happen based on assumptions. Alot of warranties have been lowered over the years by companies upping profit. They only one that has been doing their whole life is BFG. But like rollo was getting at alot of people can't hold a job and put 10s of thousands of dollars on credit cards, but to say that conscipt is going to do the same makes the assumtion that he is just like those guys.

cept I've already had jobs that I've moved on from and not been fired, and because of a terrible computer upgrade habit, I'm already living on CC's...and because of that fact they'll never be seized because I'm such a great customer. I think I see you point...except my basis for my statement revolves around precedent, yours does not. I'm pretty sure we don't know eachother. But appreciate the clever reply...

Geez, this is the 2nd negative Sapphire thread I've seen today. Even my XFX RMA didn't require me to pay anything other than shipping back to them...and they say XFX sucks. Neither did my Seagate RMA(though not a video card)

Thanks, I meant no offense.

As noted, just saying we can't assume EVGA will change their warranty policy.

Well you would think there's a better way of making your point other than insulting someone? Just my opinion.

yeah thats dumb,... having to pay any single dollar amount extra to get a working product,..plus its a hassle for the consumer to begin with,..and the companies that understand that,.. are the ones that stand out from the crowd

only company ive ever had a disagreement with on customer support was ASUS,....straight up,they wont get a dime from me again, which is really all you can do,.. just base these type experiences with your followup purchases

and this isnt bashing card choices by any means at all,.. its just that honestly most nvidia partners will bend over backwords to please you with no bs,..BFG and MSI have about the most pleasant service reps ive ever talked to,.. no hassle told em my prob,.. they solved it, had replacements within 3 days of me sending them the defect,.. i rma'd one of my raptors when i first got em one was bad,.. rma'd to newegg,.. same deal, gal was very pleasant to talk with... no hassle,.. no bs had a replacement in about 3 days of me sending it off
