Just came back from watching it. One of the best camera work I've ever seen in a movie since Children of Men. The directing was utterly top notch. It's a very simple, very charming story. At the end, when they showed the final answer on the screen, (D...), that was just pure simple, movie/story-telling greatness. It summed up the movie very well, and I left the theatre with a huge smile. Movies should be there to whisk you away to other worlds with familiar and extraordinary stories driven by unforgettable characters. I'd say, for 2008, the very definition of the term "Movie," is "Slumdog Millionaire."
I think this is a very technically demanding movie (the lighting, angles, camerawork, color, ambient noises...). For some reason, I've never appreciated the technical side of movies until I saw this. It's as if every frame of this movie can be hung on the walls of a museum, and a photography nut will go nuts at how great each photo is. It's so subtle in its artistry.
hehehe, I liked the tribute at the end. The ending credits of the main characters was very well done... geezes, the attention to detail in this movie should be appreciated by everyone. This one is a mustown bluray just for the camera work alone.
I'm going to repeat myself: Incredibly charming, heartwarming (simple and cliche'd yes, but i don't care..)
