Yup instead of waiting for Hillary to appoint him he can now appoint himself.
/sarcasm
Unless this is sarcasm, you are a fucking moron.
Oh shit!
Good luck getting an Obama nomination to go through. However, this just changed the whole election debate. This will now be front and center for both sides.
Those are different yeah? I really dont know how it works. It seemed his last one went through pretty quick. If they can hold shit up like that why didnt they last time?

RIP
I didn't find him to be a good SC justice. Mostly because of how outwardly political he became and how his opinion on how strictly the Constitution/Bill of Rights should be applied constantly shifted based on what case was being considered. But, in any case, RIP.
And I'll be surprised if Obama can get anyone confirmed, but we'll see. The Senate used to be more reasonable than the House, but Ted Cruz is a senator so...
And how did he die, maybe his death was not natural or an accident?? AKA Pelican Brief
Obama hit squad? D:
Theoretically, the Senate could refuse to confirm a nominee as with Robert Bork but I doubt Obama will nominate anybody who's nearly as controversial.
McConnell is too smart to play the obstructionist in a presidential election year, I think. It's bad for business & bad for the Court to leave open the possibility of a 4-4 tie.
Is Citizens United a dead man walking?
“No. What can he do to me? Or to any of us?” the justice responded. “We have life tenure. And we have it precisely so that we will not be influenced by politics, by threats from anybody.”

Now is a wonderful opportunity for Ryan & Obama to find a good middle ground replacement. However I know this opportunity will be squandered.
RIP, and peace to his family. I'm not Obama's biggest fan (although I don't consider him "worst President ever" or such) but do think he should be allowed a recess appointment to fill the seat for now. After the election allow the next President to pick to permanent replacement. That's the easiest way to keep this from turning into a cage match until the election. Theoretically I think he should be allowed to do the job himself but with the GOP holding the Senate you know that ain't happening.
apparently Scalia gave Obama the idea...
Obama just figured out what to do to Scalia.
kinda telling that it's hard to discern this from his postings, that he could actually be serious is sad.
Why is it outside the realm of possibility that Obama would take out a judge? He probably just wrote himself a secret executive action granting himself the right to do so.

Isn't the SC usually very hesitant to rehear cases that they have already decided?
Yeah, I don't obama getting anyone past the repub senateOh shit!

Obama will nominate a permanent replacement.
