Poltergeist (especially after reading how so many cast members mysteriously died)

YES!!

While movies have gotten gorier and more brutal and using old scare tricks from horror classics, nothing compares to the tension of Halloween when it came out. Heck, it can STILL scare really well!


And of course, The Excorcist and The Thing and Alien/Aliens round out the top 5...


The only scene from the Ring that jumped me was when the ghost comes thru the TV at the end of the movie and moves lightning fast towards the guy. The rest of the movie was a *YAWN*. Definitely not one of the greats for me.

'Scary movies' stopped scareing me after I passed the age of 12 I think. So I never really watch them. They tend to be a bit too cliche'.

yeah. that looked good.

i forget which channel did it but they had a list of the top 100 or so scariest movies...

guess what movie was number one...

err.. i can't remember LOL.

but I remember that the original Alien (sigourney weaver) and Jaws were in the top 5.

The Shining was in the top 10 as well.

That Audition movie (same director that did Battle Royale - if I remember correctly) was number #11 on the list.


Now at first when I saw Jaws I was sorta confused but it seemed like that movie scared the crap out of people when it first came out.
