I don't live in the States, so her name didn't tell me anything, I had to look her up on Wikipedia. It sounds like she's the type of politician that would be loved and cherished in other countries, but I'm not surprised at how vociferous her conservative opponents are in the U.S..

That is what we have been saying for a long time. Many people voting for the conservative candidate, like Heath Suhuler, have no clue who Pelosi is or what she stands for.

It will be very interesting to see how the new conservative Democrats react the first time Pelosi, Rangel etc all try to push some overly liberal policy through the house.

Fox News is making the point that Republicans and conservative Democrats still hold the majority in the house.

This COULD be a good thing. Might see a repeat of the 90's under a split power. Democrats keep Bush is check, conservative Democrats keep the libs in check.

And this, at least for me, is what this election was all about. A return to some checks and balances in our government.
The fringe elements have to be put back on the shelf(s) where they belong. The dem's have a good opportunity to do that and I hope they don't squander it.
