Scary A64 Temp. Readings (100C+)

Yikes! Initially I had temperature readings of around 50 degrees celcius idle and 60-63 load. However, I took out my heatsink and applied AS5 and put it back on. Then I noticed my temperatures shot up to 100 degrees. Of course I took that off and well- broke a pin. So a week later I order a new A64 3000+ processor. Set everything up and again I still have a temperature reading of 100+ degrees celcius! I'm thinking I must of damaged my motherboard somehow but still, wouldn't the chip be burning at this high of a temperature? Whenever I touch the processor or heatsink its cool and not hot at all. However, this would not make any sense on how such a change occured. I do recall accidently jabbing at the mobo with a flathead screwdriver but I doubt that is the cause. Oh and my mobo is a Chain VNF-250 which I know is known to have incorrect temperature readings on CG cores. Thanks for any input in advance :-\

Haha thats in the past now :-\ I thought the CPU itself took temperatures independent from the mobo? BTW. my system temperature is normal around 30 degrees celcius.

your temp sensor is FUBAR'd but your proceesor is probably fine, especially if the heatsink is cool to the touch.

LMAO! you are a bull in a china shop! Broke a pin, gouged the board, you should leave well enough alone now if you are wise The A64 would not operate@that temp so no worries, just use it and stop abusing it now.

I can't imagne needing a screwdriver for a non-screw down cooler with A64. The Coolermaster, stock, and Venus12 I have used all have been childs' play and you can install and remove them all with a finger.

this is a common problem with the vnf3-250, just requires newest BIOS, use winflash.
