Screen Freezes

I reformatted my PC and installed everything (Win XP Pro) that should be installed, and I am getting screen freezes no, I mean hard lock, reboot type freezes, anyone know what to do? does it have to do with the AGP Sideband addressing? Here is my system specs:

AMD Athlon XP 1900+ (1.6Ghz)
MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU (DDR333)
Enlight Case (4 5.25, 3 3.5)
512 MB Mushkin PC3000 RAM
PNY Verto Geforce3 Ti200 64MB DDR (Using Nvidia's NEW 30.87 drivers with RivaTuner as the refresh rate fix)
SoundBlaster Live! Value
Maxtor 60GB (ATA/133) 7200 RPM (liquid bearing motor!)
Western Digital 20.5 GB (ATA/66) 7200RPM
Plextor 12x/10x/32x A
Logitech iFeel Optical mouse
Microsoft Internet Pro Keyboard
Linksys network (5 port)
US Robotics 56k V.92 External Model 5686D

Windows XP Pro (I havent installed SP1 yet, because SP1 is the reson I reformatted to begin with)


I dont get a BSOD, but once I did get a large red stripe on the top of screen.

please describe the problem a little more. i think im getting the same kind of problems you are. on my main computer, my screen freezes (i mean COMPLETE system crash) in windows and linux. i reinstalled windows, reformatted, reinstalled linux 8.1, 8.2 and 9.0. all have the same problems. after i boot up, a few minutes of use, and BAM, the system stops and i get all these stripes and colors on my screen.

it could be the same problem as yours, as i use similar parts.

pc2100 256mb
radeon 8500
kt266a MSI

i tried replacing the memory with new mushkin RAM, no avail. i SWITCHED video cards, and same thing happens. SO, let me know if you figure anything out, and ill let you know if i figure out the problem.

Oh nevermind, I found the problem. It was my RAM. I had a complete system meltdown, sparks, smoke, the works, gotta get new parts now, but thanks for trying...The RAM melted on me, about 6 inches from my face, I inhaled the fumes too Mushkin better replace this ram (not to mention I need a new mobo too!)
