Screen Protectors on an iPhone?

Been using my iPhone 3G since launch day last year. I've always had a screen protector on it, so I'm curious, do you guys use them? Think they're necessary? I just got a case for my phone with a rechargeable battery in it, and it pushes up on the sides of the film, making it bubble up and look gross. Think I'll be ok without one?

I think they look cheap. I go without one, supposedly its very scratch resistant

i cant stand the glare, so i put a matte one on mine. though the screen quality goes a bit down, its worth it to get rid of that annoying glare.

I don't use one with the 3GS. The new finish keeps it cleaner then the screen protector.
