carloboy, there hasn't been 200GB for $40 unless you count the WD drives at CC. Those always involve dubious pricematch. And you can't really compare WD and Seagate with their realibility and 5-yr warranty.

25 cents a gig for a seagate is a hot deal, and yes, outpost is pretty sloppy about posting the correct rebate

btw- just set one of these drives up as an external backup drive-seagate does make a sweet drive

well if they had the correct rebate form posted, I would buy one, these will store video backups uncompressed until they start actually selling dvd's at a reasonable price that will.

Shipping isn't that bad. 8.74 for Ground and 9.57 for 2nd day to CA. It is a retail box that will ship out at 4 lbs. Newegg is charging 6.99 to ship the same retail HD. Otherwise wait until Outpost has a deal with free shipping. It does happen occasionally.

But while i'm RMA'ing... i need a new drive and this looks perfect.

Longer warranty doesn't automatically mean more realibility. In fact I've heard nasty rumors about the 300GB Seagate being prone to failure. All a longer warranty means is that when it crashes and trashes your data, you will get a refurb replacement for longer into the future.
