This hard drive is on clearance at Best Buy so that coupon cannot be used. It exludes clearance items. I was just at Best Buy today.

...and that's why we didn't ask you. Frankly, I could use 4 of these right now.

lets see....back up all your games on an internal HD and never need to use game discs ever again.....i have all my games on the hd and dont need to bring discs anywhere.. also, it loads quicker than if it had to spool the DVD. besides that, and ripping my dvds onto the hd in case i get board of gaming, its utterly useless.

That's odd; did you at least point out to the cashier and his/her manager that the coupon specifically says 10% off Accessories in Home Theater, Computers, Camcorders, and Video Games?

Nice deal, this is actually the drive I wanted even tho I just picked up a 250GB. Yea the 10% off coupon doesn't specifically exclude hard drives or computer parts. Usuallly it will say something like "excludes internal and external storage devices", so I think they pretty much have to honor it. If the clerk gives you sh!t, ask politely to speak to a manager. Also I don't think a rebate counts as "any other offer". They won't even know there's a rebate until it prints out at the register. Will have to go see if any local BBs have it at the $178 price tomorrow.

for some reason, the coupon does not take off the 10% automatically, it has to be done be the cashier manually.

the 10% does not effect the rebates at all

wonderful! my store had 6 or so on the shelf, shelf tag said 177.xx. cashier put in 10% off, printed out the $50 & the $20 rebates. sometimes I love visiting my folks in a town where nobody hunts for deals.

10% off also worked on the lexar 1GB jumpdrive...which brought that down to $52 AR

Pretty good haul!

tempted to go back and get a few more of those 300 gig drives...

i stopped at BB during lunch and they had it for 107.xx after $70 in rebates.

Is that $70 in rebates the same as the one that was printed out (i mean the printed rebates are 50+20=70)???
or are they 2 diff set of rebates?

A 300GB has data highly concentrated on it's platters. A system partition on the outer edge 10-12Gb of space will give you quite a performance increase.

There is more to a drive tuning than just it's storage capacity

I said that to myself when I bought my first 40MB drive, then again when I bought my first 20GB drive, then again when I bought my first 40GB drive, then again when I bought my first 80GB drive....
Someday, 300MB won't be enough for a basic install of Windows Super-Duper-Version-2012.

The 10% off is no good because it says no clearance items on it.

With that said. I picked mine up today and got 10% off after the cashier asked 4 people if it was ok. Woohoo.

So then. I have 4 rebates. $50 off and $20 off from the rebates that the cashier printed, and $50 off and $30 off from the website.

Obviously you can't do the $50 one twice, but can you do the $20, $30, and one of the $50's??

That would make this a SMOKIN' HOT DEAL. But can you do it?

Nevermind..

No good. I remember reading an article about how best buy hates people who do these kinds of things, and it seems they re-vamped their terms of the rebates.

On the rebate form they printed out it says:
"In-store rebates are valid on in-store purchases only. BestBuy.com rebates are valid with online purchases only."

Guess that's a big fat no-go on anyone who wants to try and do the $30 rebate online.

You can try to send it in, I still will, but I bet it won't go through.

Hmmm just to point out people.

If you apply the coupon to the Drive doesn't that Invalidate the Rebate?

i dont think it invalidates the rebate because it isnt a pricematch. i thought that was the only way to invalidate the rebate.

My total was $160.19, $70 in rebates brings it down to $90.19 / 300 = 30 cents per gig. VERY hot IMO.

I'm pretty sure a pricematch doesn't invalidate the rebate unless you pricematch it after you do the rebate. It said some goofy stuff in the terms about how you subtract the pricematch from the rebate or something.. blah blah blah

Who knows. If anyone bought the drive, just look at the terms of the rebate, it says it all on there.

Don't want to throw a wrench in to the mix. But, I though Best Buy was invalidating any in house rebates if any coupon was used. Just wanted to know since that is one of the many things that have slowly soured my experience with Best Buy.
