In Micro Center's email, said that if purchased with either a motherboard or CPU the HDD price will be $130. This might be an older 7200.10 model because 16MB cache.

I just bumped the thread, but the 640GB WD drive (2x320 platters) is still alive for about the same price. Less capacity, but should be faster.

7200.11 is latest Seagate.

The WD is vertical, the 3 platter seagate is horizontal, so with all other considerations equal, the WDs have higher data density and faster transfer rates, even though the Seagate has 3 platters (more heads and tracks being read simulataneously) Seek times should be faster on the Seagate.

Well, it depends. The Q6600 is (or was) still on sale in B&M for $199.99 and some stores might still have E8400 for $199.99.
