I'm another IBM Model M lover Picked it up out of the scrap bin at work. These things see HEAVY usage at work but don't seem any worse for the wear

Was in a meeting receintly and noticed an old Model M hooked up to a lightly used video conference PC. The thing looked like new - none of the dirty finger marks that tend to accumulate with usage. I'm going to sneek into the conference room next week and take a closer look. It might have to get swapped out and replaced with a more modern quiet keyboard Of course, I'll do my part and help out by recycling the old IBM. Gotta love it!

Also Cherry (a german company) makes great keyboards, they have a nice tactile feel, are programmable and fully mappable. Be prepaired to pay $$$$ as cherry keybords are well made but not cheap.

hehe, anyway i use a black IBM "9910" keyboard, i love it, it cost me £2 online (refurbished) lol, its probably a 'budget' keyboard though, however it feels great, is heavy (doesnt move around in games), and it is sexy

I think everyone knows that, Googer, but it is still funny.
Every time I walk by the screensavers on the cafeteria registers, it is still funny.

Well, Like I said "I am feeling a bit slow".
I don't know how many years I have known both meanings of the acronym POS and never put 1+1 together.

Duh!

The great thing about cherry and northgate (also cvt avant steller) is the programable macros or keys. It alows you to remap the keyboard to dvorak or some other fromat. Macros will alow you to program entire keystrokes in to the board and at the press of a button a whole sequence is launched (excellant for games). There is an old gateway keyboard(but I cannot remember the model number), that has eeprom memory so your macros were embeded in the keyboard and because it was hardware level it did not need os support like you do on todays keyboards (it was great for entering a bios during boot: CTRL+F1 at the press of a button). Its a very nice feature, too bad they don't make the like they used to, Since keyboards were the mice of there day it was important to have a good one back then and features like those were real time savers and still are today.

I just checked, my Trackpoint II PS/2 model says "Made in Mexico", Mfg. for IBM by Maxi Switch 1997. Guess that explains why the print on the keycaps is wearing off slightly, it's not an original-original, but it's still got that great "clicky" Model-M feel to it, plus the laptop-style "nipple". In black, of course.

I'm certain that you could frag someone with one of these keyboards, when swung at the appropriate velocity and aimed properly. So a definate  for gaming/deathmatch usage.
