I bought a Seasonic S12 Series 500W PSU for my computer. Last night it started radiating a brand new very unnatural noise. At first I thought it was a fan rubbing on a wire or something. So I opened up the case and stopped all the fans manually to see if that stopped the noise. That didnt. It really felt like it was coming from the PSU. So I manually stopped the big 120mm can on the bottom part of the unit and the noise still persisted with the fan stopped. So I really believe the sound is coming from the PSU and not any of the other fans or components of the PC.
Is there more than one fan in the PSU? If I had to describe the sound it would be like an electrical crackling or rubbing of a fan on some piece.
I dont want to open up the PSU and look for obvious warranty reasons but I had to RMA it and lose the PC for a while if its something I can fix.
