Is Daytona 2001 the same as Daytona USA? I have seen 2001 out there..

Also, is the Gameboy type VMU neccessary or just a regular VMU..
someone said msg's will pop into the display one.. and you can play mini-games on it.

Also, is a SVGA cable neccessary? Can you tell a difference between it and regular composite Video hookup? (dont have a computer nearby to use VGA)

Yes, I know at least one of the tracks is the same, the one with the slot machine your car drives under and the big statue (of sonic?). I'm assuming the other tracks are there, with new ones. The music and rolling starts are the same, and a split-screen 2 player version is supposed to have NO drops in frame rate vs just the 1-player frame rate (the review mentioned they accomplished this by dropping subtle graphic details, like passing cars).

The VMU is needed to save game files, it's basically a memory card. Don't know about the VGA hookups.

Go to fatwallet for the coupon. It expired 2 days ago but still seems to work.

ive *um* played daytona 2001, the graphics are awesome, controls is relatively good.

havent played it much, but was impressed.

Backups are "easily" found online? I think you should strike the word easily...

Anyway, i got a free keybaord from target. only had 2 left and no selections of games. Dreamcast still is a good platform so its weird that target is abandoning so quickly. Especially with consoles flying off the shelves now and all. But anyway.

That keyboard is one crappy waste of money (if you would pay). Its really a flimsy $4.99 type but with a dreamcast connector. Its funny because it says "dreamcast" on a sticker that they just slap on to cover the original manufacturers name. And my sticker is so pathetically crooked it looks like i made it myself. I bought a PSX/Saturn/Keyboard connector at levelsix.com last week and thats a lot better choice. $18 to use my PSX controller, and its BYOK so i can use my ergo keyboard for Typing of the Dead.

Speaking of DC stuff, does anyone know of a place where they sell arcade type joysticks for dreamcast?
I am playing Capcom vs SNK, Street Fighter alpha 3, Marvel vs Capcom 2, and love them, but control is an issue with the standard controller.

I think EBworld.com has the arcade stick. I may be wrong but it never hurts to check. By the way, my DC was shipped on the 19th - the next day after I ordered it. Being the cheapskate that I am, I chose the cheapskate shipping $3.99 so it will be here on the 26th.

What is PSO.. Phantasy Star?
Can you use a regular ibm keyboard with a dreamcast with some
sorta converter? Is that what you were mentioning?

Also, is the WEB browser cd included with the unit? IS it worth
it trying to surf on the TV? Can you connect it to ethernet/broadband?

Also,, Does the SVGA adapter help the graphics? Can you tell a diff?
I have the PS2 and cant tell much diff with the composite video vs. the svga video.

levelsix.com is where i bought my ps/2 dreamcast converter (for my keyboard). I got the one that converts PSX controllers, PS/2, and Saturn controllers to be used on dreamcast. Pretty sweet. $23.

As for VGA. I got mine there too. A nice little cable. Highly recommended if you have at least 17" monitor. It makes it look great...

twec is very slow in shipping. Ordered two days ago and the status still says, "in process". I think the best deal I have seen on the dreamcast was the best buy deal where you paid $149.00 and got a $50 giftcard. Two guys from work bought these and then took their receipt back to best buy and got $50 more back because they are selling for $99 now under the price protection deal. So they got them for $50. I wish I had gone that route now.

The last one is the one I've been thinking about, the smash pack. It is the same price as the sports pack, but there are 12 games included in the package. I've never played any of those games(I've never owned a dreamcast), I was wondering if any of u guys played these games before, are they worth playing/buying? please give me some feedbacks, thanks. I've listed the names of the games:

Ten of the twelve games in the Smash Pack are Sega Genesis games running on an emulator. The only native games are Sega Swirl (a puzzle game) and Virtua Cop 2 (a pretty good game).

the smash pack is a ripoff. You also need to buy a gun to play virtua cop 2. Actually, my dreamcast has already shipped. They gave me tracking number and it's on its way.

The only one of the 12 I have is Sonic the Hedgehog, it's pretty good if you like Sonic and all the pals, etc. If you look up each game on amazon.com usually you can get a pretty good idea how good they are from the reviews and/or user comments.

Guys, there's another MUST HAVE game you should buy....It's called Jet Grind Radio, and it's funky @ss grafitti-painting, roller-blading, HOT action game with wicked tunes and awesome graphical sense. I'm generally a PC game fan, BUT...when I got my hands on this game (albeit used), I simply COULD NOT STOP PLAYING IT! I got it one afternoon, and when I realized it was 3:00AM in the morning! Of course I had to go to work that day, but I end up calling in sick for half day This game is sick, I mean in a nice way. Totally addictive. Lot's of gameplay and longevity. I've been playing it for couple of months already, and I still cannot stop playing. To me, this is the only game I got so involved after the initial purchase. I can never get enough of it. And this is from a guy who tends to not get "hooked" on games...

I bought it used, but had I known it was this good, I'd buought it double the full price. It's that good, folks. Of course, you got bucket loads of other good games I'm sure you can buy for good price.
