Lets say that I was the admin for a network. There are around 100 computers all serviced by 1 server. What I would like to do is make all of the workstations identical. Going to everyworkstation would be to time consuming so I was looking for a better way. Thanks so much.

You need to supply more info such as the OS of the server and workstations? Also are all the workstations the same?

"Make all of the workstations identical" how? Paint them all the same color? Make them all have the same wallpaper? Make them all have the same apps installed? Make them all have the drive setup?

You can use RIS and an answer file to name the machines as well.

The workstations are all basically Win98 and the Server is WinNT. As for netsysadmin's question, yes the workstation are basically all the same hardware. For Nothinman's question, I want everything the same. I want all the hardrives to be the same down to the wallpaper. erevly, you mentioned ghosting; I have heard of this before but dont actually know what is involved in doing so.

So you are a network admin and don't know about ghosting? Or are you not really a network admin, and just posing a hypothetical for fun? Cut to the chase, what is the real sitaution so we know what resources you have at your disposal.

If you read his original post you would have noticed that this is hypothetical. While probably not for fun, it is probably more for educational purposes.
