I'm think about getting a server going. What would be a good one to purchase. I'm completely lost when it comes to this stuff
It would be helpful if you could describe what you expect to serve from this box, anticipated loads, applications, traffic flows, preferred OS ...
Budget is also a good item to mention, since a "good" server can cost tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars (we're getting an 80 core DL980 with a couple T of RAM .... big bucks!). A "good" home server with a minimal load can be had for well under a grand.
