Setting up wireless access points?

So I've got a D-Link DI-624 802.11g router that I've been using for a while. All 4 of the wired ports are currently being used on it by desktop computers. Right now only 2 laptops are being used on the wireless portion of it, but they have integrated 802.11b capability. I'm not sure if it's just because of the difference in specs or what, but once I get about halfway through the house, the signal drops and I can't get on the network.

Because of this, I want to setup an access point in the house. My question is, is this easily possible? If so, how exactly would I go about setting it up so that everything works seemlessly? I'm using both WEP encryption and mac address filtering on the router, and want to make sure that would follow through with no problems.

I think you'll want a bridging WAP.

Mind giving a little more info on that? I'm quite n00bish when it comes to wireless and routing in general.

I think both your router and your wireless access point should support bridging.

I haven't looked into it much, because I get a good enough signal throughout the major areas of my house. Here are some links I found through a little known Search Engine (a website that will allow you to search through their database for information on various subjects) called google.

Tom's Networking.
O'Reilly cheap bridging.
Practically Networked.

I have no clue how useful these will be, I haven't read them.

I searched for "wireless" +"bridging", not something extremely difficult.

Just trying to help you become self sufficient with technology.

I probably should have given more information in my original post. And if I had experience or atleast more knowledge on the subject I would have. I figured giving you the terminology involved might give you enough information to start researching. But with false positives on Google, my assumption might not have been right. Sorry.

yeah thanks, I appreciate the info you were able to give... just that I was hoping someone with more knowledge on the matter than me would be able to either tell me what I'd need to do, or point me to a place that could tell me... I've searched around a bit myself on Google, and as you said, with the false positives, I decided to come here
