$40 for the bare case. (plus $8 shipping)

1.) At this point it looks like it will be significantly cheaper to buy bare SG05 case and SFX PSU separately than bundled together.

The regular SG05 300 watt and 450 watt case/psu bundles are priced at $107 (plus $13.73 shipping) and $130 (plus $9 shipping) respectively.

.....but looking at the Newegg SFX power Supply listings http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=1&srchInDesc= I am seeing the FSP 300 watt SFX listed at $40 (plus $5.67 shipping) with the 450 watt bronze SFX at $70 (plus $6 shipping).

2.) This also opens up the possibility of using other SFX PSUs for lower power builds-->http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151089

(Although I don't have any personal experience with the 300 watt Seasonic SFX I have read it will fit. A nice plus is that it lists double ball bearing fan vs. the sleeve bearing fan in the usual FSP 300 watt SFX.)

After doing some research it appears the FSP300-60GHS watt SFX bundled with the SG05 has different connectors on it (eg, 3 SATA vs. 2 SATA, as well as 6 pin PCI-E) compared to the FSP300-60GHS listed on Newegg. (Silverstone must spec custom plugs for their FSP300-60GHS PSUs.)

The bundled Silverstone 450 watt Bronze SFX (at least according to what I can gather form the Silverstone site) appears to be the same as the 450 watt Bronze SFX sold separately by Silverstone with the exception of 6 pin PCI-E cable length (550mm/150mm vs. 400mm/150mm).

Cool.

Not useful for me, since I would have gotten a 450w PSU anyway, and would have therefore saved about... well... once you factor in shipping (Amazon had free shipping on the SG05-450-USB3 at the time) actually, like, nothing.

Makes me wish I didn't just buy a COOLER MASTER Elite 120. Still no SG06 without powersupply though.

well this leaves the option to go with the 450W gold rated unit instead of going with the bundled bronze

Comparing prices on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-Te...rds=SG05+LITE] ($40 with free shipping for bare SG05)

http://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-ST.../dp/B003H4QPDC ($64 with free shipping for Silverstone 450 watt Bronze SFX PSU)

vs.

http://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-SG.../dp/B008J0ZQCU ($125 with free shipping for SG05/450 watt Bronze SFX bundle)

That works out to be a savings of $21 for someone buying the 450 watt Bronze set-up separately rather than purchasing as a bundle.

Ah, Amazon is cheaper again!

But the Bronze unit is a better unit supposedly. No noise issue and I hear people say its more powerful. Don't know if that is true or not. I do think its good though that now you can get it empty and pick your psu. More choices is always good.

Yes, the Seasonic will fit (I've done that to an SG05) though you lose CPU cooler clearance.

Yup, no PCIe cable on the FSP branded unit. You'll just have to use the adapter that comes with many graphics cards.

Even better bonus is that you get a 3 year warranty on the PSU when purchased separately, but only 1 year warranty if purchased as part of a case. This is unlike Antec, which will warranty a PSU for 3 years as part of the case.

want 550w+ SFX PSU

Wouldn't that be sweet. Hell, I'd love to see even a 500w. Silverstone knows people want one. They have a rep that hangs around over on the HF SFF section. He's gotten a earful from folks so they have heard the pleas.
